I mean, it might be morally wrong in your opinion, but as a democracy, if the majority believe the right should not exist, the people have the ultimate say. If there's something fundamentally wrong about it, such as a basic human right, we have a court system to stand up for the rights of the minority. Then you get into semantics about "why not call it something else and have marriage only apply to religious ceremonies", etc. But that's beside the point. I'm fully in support of gay marriage and my views on this whole issue begin and end with "stick it, or be stuck by it, wherever you want, and by whomever you want as long as it's fully consensual", but I respect the right of the >50% in your example to deny that right within their state. | ||

I don't know about high post count, but usually it's based on some sort of friendship (online or not) between members of a forum/sub-forum, not directly to post-count. However, I still find the rule of respect your elders kind of stupid. It all goes back to children not able to make "their own knowledgeable" decisions, so listen to the people who can. Or at least this is what I assume. Either that or people like to tell others what to do, but don't directly admit to it and instead create a false reason for it. | ||
