Sucks to be that girl or her parents... life is hard enough as a 6 ft tall relatively attractive white male who does well in school and was born in the suburbs... i cant imagine living the life some people live. but theres always a way to make youself happy. its all in your head, figuratively and literally. i think that if someone is smart enough they can figure out how to make themselves happy no matter what. happyness is a chemical thing anyway right.. | ||

I mean, there are lots of disabled/handicapped people who have done things with there lives, Helen Keller, Stephen Hawking(n00bsaibot mentioned), etc. I mean, if she gets to be 30, and decides her life is pointless, then she can kill herself, but I guess its like being blind from birth, you can't miss what you've never had, none the less, this is very sad .edit: I mean, think of Helen Keller, she was blind + deaf, with basically no way to communicate with the outter world, and she overcame that. Who is to say that this girl cannot overcome this, perhaps with proper lessons, surgery, or maybe new innovations in genetics, it will be possible. | ||

I only believe that the truly mentally retarded, the ones who are basically vegetables, have no point to live. There are 2 boys at my school who can't walk, talk, listen, don't respond to anything you do. Basically all they do is drool all over themselves. I have even talked to their care takers and they agree the 2 boys really have no reason to live besides their parents would feel guilty. These are the ones who shouldn't be put through it. This girl, though I highly doubt she will, CAN live a happy life. She would just need to be sheltered from society for a good portion of it. and n00bsaibot, don't use things like "she could cure cancer" and shit like that. That just makes baal pull something equally as farfetched out of his ass. Be realistic. Siddhartha Gautama(aka Gautama Buddha) lived quite a happy life in solitude. You can even say she can find somebody and whatnot. Let's not claim she will do something that would make her the most influential person in the modern world, it makes the discussion more stupid than it already is. | ||
