I have amnesia to the event, I don't remember exactly how it all happened.
Luckily there were no other cars involves, and I was driving alone.
All I remember right now is walking out to my jeep. My mom was there cleaning it out for me. She saw me and smiled. There was a dog jumping around her because he smelled some old fast food bag. It was sunday. I was heading off to work.
My memory skips from there. Next thing I know I'm in the jeep, it's a ways off the road between my home and my work, upside-down and crushed in from every angle, in the middle of a bunch of thorn bushes, and I'm trapped inside of it with no idea why I'm there. Everything's cold and damp. I have no idea how long I was in there before I regained conciousness, but I pulled myself out and started calling for help.
Some people came, asked me if I was ok. I forget what I said in response. The ambulance came a short while later, drove me to the hospital while they gave me oxygen, cut all my clothes off and started searching my body for possible injuries.
I'm fine. The worst thing they found was a very deep lasceration one millimeter to the left of my right eye. They think it was from a shard of glass after the windshield shattered. It was as deep as it could possibly be without breaking bone. The skin was completely separated, they had to do 2 layers of 16 stitches to seal it.
The airbags didn't deploy and I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. There was an imprint of the steering wheel in my chest. It was a blunt object, and yet it hit with enough force to break skin and make me bleed. The doctors said it's a miracle my ribcage didn't shatter, and even more of a miracle that I didn't die.
Thought you guys would get a kick out of this atleast. Pictures of the jeep post-trauma will be up in two days. I haven't even seen them yet, so that should be interesting.

Well, that very unfourtante. Im glad your OK though
Too bad you werent waring your seatbelt. You might be feeling a little bit better, plus you might have been able to collect due to the air bags not being deployed =/
I'm assuming you were going fast enough to where they should have deployed. Oh well, at least your safe!

You have a cool story to tell for the rest of your life.
|
never drive without fastening your seatbelt!
besides that i'm glad nothing serious happened to you
|
Fist thing i always do after i sit down to drive is fasten my seat belt , it drives my father nuts. He says i always take too much time to start the car and gets impatient .
Glad you are ok man, and remember to fasten your seat belt next time!

Too bad you didn't have the belt on, but then again, your injuries could be worse with it. You could have had the belt cut really deep into your chest, and stomach.

holy, that's freaky scary, man. you didn't say how long is the cut?
|
whoos in this past few months everybodies crashed havent they
|
It was an '89 Cherokee so apparently it didn't have any airbags to begin with..
Someone earlier was asking if I took pictures... no I didn't. I doubt I have the strength to stand up and take a picture in my condition now, let alone in my condition immediately after the accident.
My parents took pictures just as they signed away the wrecked jeep. I should get to see them tomorrow.
If anybody wants to upload them somewhere and link them here for me, they can contact me on AIM, my ID is cjhasbro

There's a nice lesson to be learned from this... always wear a seat belt. You got lucky this time (and everybody is thankful that you were) but you might not be so fortunate next time.
|
Good thing u made it now that u have faced death in its face next time u can tell him ill shit in ur face if u try to kill me agian
|
GOD DAMN i got one as well
NOW i'm worried about my none-crime certifacate
|
Is it the law to wear seatbelts in your country?
There are pretty bad penalties in Aus if you're caught not wearing one =O
|
btw i got in to my car crash on Sydney botany road !
T.T
|
Wow... so how was the crash... i mean the other driver (assuming you didnt crash with a tree like i did), should know what happened, or the police or what are the speculations...
Anyway, ive heard a lot of ppl kinda losing memory while they crash, most of them dont know wtf happened, probably if you get scared enough of something your brain blacks out.
All doctors in strong crashes will tell you "its a miracle" to well, make sure you wont screw up two times, and for gods sake dude, wear your deam seatbelt, it only take 1 sec, it can save your life, and not only that but even to drive fast it helps to keep you in your seat.

I care, and you get the f outta here.
To the poster, glad you're ok man
|
Holy cow, how could u survive this, I guess you did because the contact was actually made (from hitting a tree??) from the passenger front side
Did you get enough sleep? Driving w/out enough sleep is just as dangerous as driving under influence.
|
Can you remember anything at all? My uncle had a car accident there was 4 people hes the only survivor and he could remember anything either oh man thats some scary stuff...
|

|
wow glad ur alright man... life can end so fast cant it?

|
I am glad you atleast remembered to post it here on tl for us to share! And dude I'm sorry for you, must feel kinda weird also, with amnesia and stuff. Also you seem to have been very lucky.
|
It would have been awesome if he woke up in the morning and got ready to go to work and then got outside and said "wtf happened to my car?"
|
damn your shit got fucked up..
glad your ok
|
Damn Chris glad to hear you are ok. I got into a car wreck a couple weeks back some bitch just plowed into me while I was stopped. My car got like 4k worth of damage, and I thought it was fucked up. Your car got REALLY fucked up.
Again glad to hear you are ok heal well friend.
|
From looking at the car, there were good chances of you dying in that crash Yet you survive, and even walk away with minor injuries. I am indeed very happy for you, and you should feel fortunate
|
Chris, all the best wishes for a speedy recovery. From the pictures I can only imagine how difficult a time this must be for you. I hope you use your experience to spread the word to others to wear seatbelts.
To whoever mentioned it, wearing a seatbelt is ALWAYS safer than not wearing one if you are in a crash; I can't see how people would think differently. If everyone in America buckled up, we'd save twice as many lives _every year_ as were killed on 9/11.
Drive safe, people.

|
Jesus fucking christ man. God really shined down on you that day.. wow. Glad you made it out alive with no super injuries, like broken spine or something.. but god damn. Not being able to remember anything must be weird.. get better soon :O

Just think that if you died, we would all be wondering "Whatever happened to that Chris307 guy?" and never know you had died. Like if I suddenly died, you guys may never know about it and think I just did some ninja vanish from the site or something.

chris, were a seatbelt mate. and find out why those airbags diddnt deploy. it can be dangerous for them to deploy while someone isnt wearing a seatbelt, maybe thats why.
