UK is a little higher than I'd have thought. I'm not surprised by France though. That country has real problems with its Muslim minority.

What the fuck ? I blame ignorance. I believe muslim people just heard "Islamic state" and said yes of course I like it. By the way xDaunt : most european fighters in Syria and Iraq come from UK. UK is, right now, the european heart of radical islamism. We don't have any problem with muslim in France by the way, we have "problem" with immigration from our ex colonies.

from what i understand, there are political parties in european nations that are dedicated to driving out muslims, preventing muslim immigration. USA has mexicans to split the nation for "us and them", europe seems to use muslims for "us and them"

USA has mexicans to split the nation for "us and them", europe seems to use muslims for "us and them" This is one of the worst examples ever. Find me a list of mexican who blew themselves up against American civilians. You know what is the problem? Thinking like you do 'we should be more permissive', because if you didn't understand it yet, these people (ISIS) won't stop no matter how permissive you are. We are arrived at a point where even the smallest critic against muslim people is labelled with racism, bigotry and blindness to multiculturalism and this doesn't make sense at all. I have the right to criticize it! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1510866/Poll-reveals-40pc-of-Muslims-want-sharia-law-in-UK.html We should be even more permissive, right? What about we just say 'Hey guys, come here, the weather is good, we'll just make room for you. Of course you can implement Sharia, I believe in your good intentions'.

I guess a majority of those who answered in favor of ISIS had no idea what the hell ISIS is, apart from the fact that they are against the western world, which is probably the reason why they answered the way they did.

Personally, i think that any sort of religion is an utterly antiquated concept, and thus i also agree with the previously mentioned sentiment. I don't really have a problem with religios people, as long as they keep their religion to themselves. But most people who take their religion seriously also think that everyone else should act according to it, because it is THE WORD OF GOD!!!.

It's not just ignorance. There is a surprisingly large portion of Muslims who know how these organizations operate, but they also support their goals and they believe that the ends justify the means. As shocking as it may seem that someone may support ISIS knowing full well what they do, I have seen such people myself.

Polls are a small sample size processed with some statistical analysis, but regardless, these results are very frightening. I don't know how anyone at all could support 100% unjustified conquest and murder carried out in an excessive and brutal manner. One thing that made big news today is an American citizen who died fighting for IS. At the time that he left for Syria, he was living in my hometown, which is about as grave as an insult to that great city as anything can get. "The battle in itself seemed tragically normal. Two Syrian opposition groups fought and there were heavy casualties on both sides. Then victorious rebels rifled through the pockets of the dead. One contained about $800 in cash -- and an American passport. Douglas McAuthur McCain, of San Diego, California, was killed over the weekend fighting for the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), according to the Free Syrian Army. Photos of McCain's passport and of his body -- which feature a distinctive neck tattoo -- have been seen by NBC News. According to an activist linked to the Free Syrian Army who also saw the body and travel document, McCain was among three foreign jihadis fighting with ISIS who died during the battle. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/american-douglas-mcauthur-mccain-dies-fighting-isis-syria-n189081

Syrian rebels, including the Nusra Front, seized control of the Syrian crossing with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Wednesday, a pro-opposition monitoring group said. "Al-Nusra Front and other rebel groups took the Quneitra crossing, and heavy fighting with the Syrian army is continuing in the surrounding area," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. He said at least 20 soldiers and four rebels were killed in the fighting for the crossing that began earlier on Wednesday. The heavy fire strayed across the border into the Israeli-occupied portion of the Golan, where the Israeli army said one of its officers was moderately wounded. Six mortar shells crashed into the occupied portion of the Golan within hours, the army said, adding that it returned fire. Source As the Islamic State continues to inflict humiliating defeats on Bashar Assad’s forces in east Syria, pro-regime activist's expressed rage on social media, demanding the ouster of the Defence Minister. "Tafah al- Kail" (overstretched) is a hashtag circulated by Assad’s cyber activists, expressing their fear and concern. Activists dubbed the regime’s Defence Minister, Fahd Jassem al-Freij, as the "death minister", saying everyone involved in the dramatic losses should be held to account. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 320 Syrian troops were killed in the fall of the Tabqa airbase, the last foothold in Raqqa province on Sunday. Source

Turns out the poll that showed such high French support for ISIS was commissioned by Russian propaganda outlet Russia Today and that such high support levels would require some major tinkering.... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2014/08/27/do-1-in-6-french-citizens-really-support-islamic-state/

Germans on the Eastern Front never surrendered to the Reds because it meant certain death (many fled West and surrendered to the US/UK forces). The fact that Syrians are surrendering I think is more to do with their poor training and perhaps misguided hope.

Gunmen opened fire on a Lebanese army position at the border with Syria on Thursday near a town seized by Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) insurgents earlier this month, triggering an exchange of fire, a security source said. The fighting, which erupted before dawn, was still raging in late afternoon, with troops shelling the gunmen who had taken up position on the outskirts of the town, an AFP correspondent reported. The Lebanese army had shelled militant positions in the border zone with Syria on Wednesday, a security source said. It was the first such engagement since the fighters, including members of ISIS, withdrew from the town of Ersal three weeks ago following five days of deadly battles with the army. The army had opened fire with artillery after observing suspicious movement by the militants, the source said. There was no immediate word on casualties but the correspondent saw a wounded soldier being evacuated in a military vehicle as plumes of black smoke billowed into the sky over the town. Source

Airstrikes won't cut it. Well, we'll see. Fucking with UN peacekeeping forces seems like a recipe for IS to invite an international escalation to come and stomp their faces. Well, either that, or the security council disbands, because if even IS doesn't have to take them seriously, nobody will again ever... and there is no use for an utterly impotent international peace force at all (and I doubt anymore nations will offer forces if they don't get backup when in danger).
