Crisis in Japan - Page 41
Forum Index > General Forum |
Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members. Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true.

I don't want to discuss it any further.

T___T Communication is down in affected areas I'm sure this number will not translate into casualties. Japan is extremely well prepared for such an event, each year mandatory disaster protocol drill takes place in September (in memory of largest disaster in 1920's if I recall correctly). They build buildings designed to withstand such quakes, look at Haiti where the quake was far smaller in magnitude and cities where leveled.

If Japan weren't that prepared and had such high standards of earth quake prevention and security, we would have seen that figure not as missing persons but as deaths by now. It is far too early to tell how the numbers will develop, especially since it is night right now and the clean-up and relief operations have yet to begin in full. I expect that the number of deaths and missing persons will rise and convene sharply in the coming days.

By no means am saying that I am psychic of have precognitive skills. Last night, I had a brief dream in which I saw a map of the USGS world view (which I do check on and off) On it I saw a LARGE RED sqaure surrounded by many other smaller squares just of the east coast of Japan. The thing was this square was much larger than the normal size square USGS put up for a 7+ Normally would not think much of this, but this was one of those that sticks clearly in my mind, and I can still see with my waking eye. Note the date. Now check the picture of todays UGS ![]() do you have a link to the OP? cause i got huge goosebumps reading this

I was hoping for much, much less. More like 0. This is really disturbing ... On March 12 2011 00:02 Captain Peabody wrote: Holy cow. A Korean friend is currently in the process of heading back to Korea from America. Right now, she's sitting in an airport, because she had to wait an extra day after the local connecting flight she was going to be on was cancelled after the sole flight attendant got sick. But if that one person hadn't gotten sick, she was scheduled to arrive in Tokyo about five minutes before the quake hit. It's crazy. My heart and my prayers go out to all those hurt, killed, or injured in the quake. Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requiem... Holy shit man. D:

That or the boats don't want to run into the tsunami out at sea, maybe it's better to stay in the harbor. Doesn't seem like it would work that way, but maybe. In harbor is the worst place to encounter a tsunami. If you were in a boat in the open ocean and a tsunami went past, you wouldn't notice it apart from any other ocean swell.
