Crisis in Japan - Page 21

Thread is about the various issues surrounding Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. Don't bring the shit side of the internet to the thread, and post with the realization that this thread is very important, and very real, to your fellow members.

Do not post speculative and unconfirmed news you saw on TV or anywhere else. Generally the more dramatic it sounds the less likely it's true.

Yea Tsunami warning here in BC. I feel pretty safe here tho on the Gulf Islands. My home is roughly 100 feet above sea level... Hope its enough... Going to be hard to sleep tonight...

I can't help but picture me and my family in one of those cars being swept away... My heart goes out to anyone affected by this.
Y'know sometimes people ask me y'know like "What's your religion and stuff?" And I'm like "y' know it's like RTS." Uh, and they're like, "What's that?" And I'm like, "Y'know it's kinda like, kinda like Buddism."

There was footage of cars going off road into farmland to avoid the water. I'm pretty sure they're giving it a lot of gas

They're fleeing for their lives, sadly. Calm has nothing to do with it.

I'm going to quote myself on that and add a Google maps image of the destroyed region, so that everyone can get a better feel of the scope.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe=off&q=google maps miyagi japan&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Miyagi Prefecture, Japan&gl=us&ll=38.268376,140.872192&spn=0.201623,0.260239&t=h&z=12

Most of what you see on the image is probably gone by now. Especially near the coast and in the urban areas.

Lots of false information on this thread so far. For us in BC Canada, a Tsunami ADVISORY has been issued, not a warning. There is a difference. http://wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov/2011/03/11/lhvpd9/04/messagelhvpd9-04.htm

There are only 10 deaths reported... because it is still very early. Trust me, that number unfortunately will rise significantly

Reported deaths are confirmed dead bodies. If you don't have the bodies yet, you can't confirm any deaths. They have their reasons not to issue any speculation about deaths and missing persons yet.

a family friend in japan runs a hospital; apparently he's been hit not much news on the damage other than to say that it's a wreck inside.

Wow that stream is incredibly terrifying. I can't imagine one moment everything okay, to the warnings, to all that fire happening in so little time. Scared just looking at it.
Fruitdealer proved that balance didn't stop good players from making good decisions. Balance whining only makes it acceptable to your mind for you to lose, which is ultimately unacceptable.

Also its not reported deaths. It's confirmed deaths. Confirmed deaths are those where the body has been identified.
