Lol... yeah I was kind of wondering what the UN can really do, and something along these lines came to mind. As people have already said, I don't know how long SK can keep taking this kind of stuff without repercussions, but hopefully no drastic measures will be needed.

Did they change their mind? http://news.sina.com.cn/w/2010-11-23/162521519996.shtml the headline reads "the korean foreign ministry, once the incident is concluded, will consider consulting the UN"

It's just that I am also quite tense at the moment. It most certainly will affect viewer count, I'm sure. I share your concerns.

You can't honestly be this foolish, can you? is a "an alternate view"? and "not a declaration?" So the "escalation could result in war and people should be aware" and "they want an excuse"? What the fuck? That doesn't even make sense.

With the recent revelation of NK's new uranium enrichment plant, I'd say taking action faster while SK side still has leverage would be a better idea than to wait for NK to develop their own nukes. You understand SK does not want a war against there own race. It's a tragedy if we kill each other. I'm South Korean American btw. South koreans pity North Korea as a country. South Koreans don't hate NK people we hate their leaders. Nobody wants to fight them!!!!

I believe no news station has mentioned how did SK return fire. If it was nothing serious then things should calm down really soon. I hope.

SK really doesn't want to go into a war with NK. It's actually better for them to lose a ship here and there than to go to war. They preffer to wait it out till NK changes it's policy.

No one lives their life thinking about shit that can't be rejected because it can't be proved. You disregard the obvious impossibilities. China DOES NOT WANT WAR IN THIS CONTEXT. There is no way anyone with any amount of understanding of the geopolitics of this situation could think otherwise.

Today's event was unprovoked aggression on South korean soil. in the 1980s the relations were low too but South korea provoked NK's responses.

They need to put up a show that they're trying to do something. Especially since the current Secretary-General hails from South Korea (Ban Ki-moon). who knows? there may actually be some positive action by the UN this time around! [edited for spelling]
