But, again, not sure that they're the best solution for mp3 players as the high impedance will reduce the output volume on such devices. Will work great on computers/amplifiers/etc.

I saw them at $149 on Sennheiser's webiste but they're under $100 on amazon so they're surely worth a try. But, again, not sure that they're the best solution for mp3 players as the high impedance will reduce the output volume on such devices. Will work great on computers/amplifiers/etc. 64 ohms is not that high, though like most Sennheiser headphones the impedance is much larger at some frequencies. It's more like 150 ohms at about 80 Hz. More troublesome is the pretty low sensitivity, listed at 102 dB SPL / 1V (rms) input. That's equivalent to about 90 dB / 1 mW at 64 ohms. Most portable players can only manage about 0.5 V (rms) so 4 times less power so like 96 dB SPL max, pretty damn low for listening to anything with wide dynamic range. At 64 ohms they're usually not current limited, but voltage limited, so it shouldn't generally be lower than that. Many home sources can do like 1V (rms) output so still only like 102 dB SPL. A few will do more. Then again, they isolate pretty well, so probably you won't have to listen as loud. For listening to compressed (dynamically, not necessarily filesize) music, like most any modern recording, it should be okay, as long as you don't listen too loud. Not sure if they're close to the first pick for comfort though.

My friend was working in a warehouse this summer and found a pallet with a bunch of old Amplifiers and speakers and stuff. Long story short, he found me a new-in-box, never used, Technics SE-V4X amplifier + eq module. (For 50 bucks, lol.) http://www.nrpavs.co.nz/archive_2_09/Sold_2_09_htm/TechnicsSU-V4X.htm He says it sounds great, and I can't wait to try them with my headphones. Any comments on this amp?

Anyway I ordered a Steelseries Siberia V2, but it was meh so I send it back. (My old 5hv2 was waaaaaaay more comfortable) Instead managed to repair the cable of my 5hv2, if it breaks again I will definently buy a Sennheiser 558 (mod into 595) with a zalman mic

![]() I really like these, they're comfy, have good sound, and are wireless and can still be used while plugged in. Kind of pricy though, maybe other headsets that are around the same price are better.

Wireless isn't needed, but it could be a plus (although I'm 99% sure I couldn't connect it to my iPod were it wireless- Bluetooth can't carry 7.1 surround, as I understand it). 7.1 for headphones (and tbh speakers) is a marketing gimmick. One subwoofer? Which ear? ![]() Logitech G35 maybe? Dont have much constructive to say other than you should reconsider the 7.1 requirement. EDIT: Nvm the logitech suggestion. Its USB.

Here in Canada it's not unusual for the MSRP to be like twice as high and never come down.

From the looks of the pic, it looks a lot like an ipod shuffle in terms of size. And for how much did you buy it? If it's cheap enough, I might look into getting one just to get that small boost. ![]()

![]() I believe it is pretty much the same size as the shuffle, which is kind of nice in my opinion because of less weight in your pockets! I've never owned an amp before so i wanted to try out a small cheap one to see how they work. I'll let you know what I think in a couple of days! http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Headphone-Amplifier-Micca-Cable/dp/B002V5M5E6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1313329995&sr=8-2
