I didn't even realize they made an E3. It should be fine though. all you need is a small boost to the volume. 32-80 ohm cans aren't hard to drive to begin with. You may even be satisfied with no amp. I'd say try them without an amp first, and then if you feel they aren't loud enough, buy the E3 and you'll be set.

E3 is great It's really cheap so I don't see the harm from buying one~ You might also like the added bass boost
Only problem is that the E3 goes through batteries like it's candy

is bass boost really needed for the DT 770's? heard theyre bass monsters.

It's not the best out there but I felt like it was the best in it's price range.

No, it's absolutely not. I would never use Bass Boost on anything or color the sound through software EQ's in any way. Doing things like that lowers sound quality. Maybe not by much, but I like to have the cleanest signal possible.
DT770's are bass monsters, you're not gonna need bass boost

Looking to get a new headset for my PC. I was looking towards the Sennheiser PC360. Any other suggestions without going any more expensive or are these very good?

Most EQ implementations, particularly software ones, don't really effect the sound quality. If you were to take an input, EQ it, and then do the reverse EQ with another implementation, there should be negligible difference between that output and the original.
As for driving the DT 770 Pro 80, it depends on how loud you want to go and what you're listening to. If you're listening to most genres, most recordings are pretty dynamic compressed such that everything is mostly the same (near max loud) level. In that case, I think the headphones should be fine straight out of most sources. For listening to recordings with more dynamic range (mostly classical and jazz) at close to live listening levels, you're going to want more power. I'd get the Fiio E5 over the E3, anyway, since you can turn off the EQ there and it has a rechargeable battery. But even the E7 might not have enough power, depending.

Try looking/asking in the headset thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=126262
If you ask for recommendations here, you will get a response something akin to getting an actual pair of headphones with a clip-on mike or desk mike

Yeah, it really depends on what your priorities are for a headset. That that kind of price, you can usually find a headphone that has some kind of better combination of sound quality, build quality, and comfort. But if the primary concern is microphone quality and convenience, a headphone + separate microphone solution is not going to be the right thing for you.

Do you think the FiiO E7 works together with mobile phones? I have an HTC Desire (android = linux based) because i think i've heard it works with iPhones.
|
Works with? It works as a buffer/amplifier for anything with an analog two channel output (like a headphone jack, so an iPhone, any mp3 player, any CD player, any computer, pretty much any phone, etc.). It's the same as any amp. You give it an input, and it has an output that has certain characteristics.
FiiO E7 is just also a USB DAC + amp, so it has other functionality as well. Instead of just amplifying an analog input signal, it can also be used with your computer as an external sound card, getting digital data through USB, converting that to analog (hence digital to analog converter aka DAC), and then passing it through its internal amp like above. If you're using it as a pure amp, you're bypassing the USB and DAC part.
Or were you asking about how well they work together, in some sense, and not if they could be connected together?

I was wondering if they were compatible at all, because i read somewhere that maybe it couldn't. Thanks for clearing it up for me <3

I wouldn't lug a e7 around with my phone just to listen to music personally It does have a lineout though so you can connect phone headphone jack -> fiio e7 -> headphones
PS Quick review for my FiiO e7 (a week in use so far) but I think they are pretty good, definitely different sound signature. It seems a good bit warmer than the laptop board sound, and the bass boost is nice feature too.

I'm finally buying a miniamp for my ipod. Rather exciting :D Probably am going to replace my px100s with something a bit more upscale. Any suggestions? I might get another pair (mine are breaking after 5 years of abuse) or portapros, or something if there are no great ideas for more expensive ones

In terms of headsets, does anyone know any other good headset that is as good as the Sennheiser PC151? My mic always seems to break (this is my second headset) and I might consider replacing it :\
