Hm, I might think this is the opposite case, if you're talking about classical music--though obviously there's an enormous difference between different classical music in terms of style, form, instrumentation, etc. Most classical music recordings actually have reasonable dynamic range, so peaks 20-30 dB or more above the average may be common. If you are listening at reasonable levels such that you can hear the average parts fine, I'd expect that not to leak much. But at those same levels, I'd expect the loud parts to leak noticeably to people nearby in the same room.

Different headphones are different. I think it's much more likely that you just prefer the HD650's sound over the HD800's. You wouldn't be the only one, that's for sure.

just got myself a pair of westone 3s, i was really missing my IEM fix after my ety ER4Ps got stolen a year or two back. so nice having a nice iem again, the isolation on them are amazing, the dedicated driver specifically for the bass makes a huge difference IMO, bass is really clear and crisp, got a really good thump to it, which helps for dub while playing sc haha

Currently Sennheiser HD25 IIs (same headphones Tastosis casts with, without the mic) and AKG 240Ms, Audio GD Compass, and Tributaries 5series Optical.
Owned: ATH-A900s, Technics RPDh1200s DJ headphones, Z buds, Apple IEMs.
If you can get the 240M version, not the Studios, they have a much more natural sound.

Personally, I have Razer Orcaa's. They're pretty middle of the road, good for both gaming and music. They're middle of the road, they were only roughly 60 bucks, so they aren't the cheapest, but it can get a lot of more expensive. Though I must say, the color scheme is pretty, and the headphones are very comfortable.

aw hell, I recently broke my headset. And that was the last mic I had.
I'm thinking of buying a headphone with a zalman clip-on mic. any recommendations that are under 110 dollars?
from what it i've read it look to be a good choice to buy the seinnhesser hd555/ or ath-m50s
any other good headphones that I should look out for?

I'd go with the ATH-M50s. You won't be dissapointed. Shure SRH840 are also another well regarded headphone around that range (150 i think). But yeah, ATH-M50's are extremely well regarded.

@Campinsam: Everyone recommended me ath-m50. I listened. I fucking love them. You won't regret it.
@affla: I dont know how flexible your budget is but i really like my klipsch s4 (esp the bass) at $80. You could also look into the sennheiser earbuds for less money, i believe they have an extended bass model.

If you don't mind or prefer open (non-isolating), ATH-AD700 is another popular model. It should be better for acoustic music, some other music, as well as positional audio for gaming. If you want bass thump, look elsewhere, like the ATH-M50.

How's the Sennheiser HD 515? Might get them for $50 on Amazon (also get a free Sennheiser OMX60 pair)
things to consider: - I'm not an audiophile - I'm just gonna plug it into my computer and listen to mp3s (tired of using crappy skullcandy earbuds) - would mainly like to know if it's a good deal
|
mp3s is kind of vague, both in terms of musical content (genres) and sound quality (think 128 kbps from encoders a decade old vs. modern LAME V0). Do you particularly want open headphones?
I think a JVC HA-RX700 for around $40 is a better deal, though I haven't heard the HD 515 personally. Nobody seems to know or care about it, possibly for good reason. Maybe others will have different opinions.
|
hmm now that I think about it I guess I do want closed type. I tried looking around for those JVC HA-RX700 but on Amazon it's $60 and on Newegg it's sold out. So what would be a good deal for around the $40-$50 price range? I wouldn't mind going cheaper like $20 or $30. Just want bang for my buck. Oh and I would like replaceable parts when things break haha
|
ASTROS BABY!!! love the 5.1. and insanely good low - high pitches. always clear. get em!
|
|
Wait for the retailers to restock on RX700s. I remember they were sold out 4-5 months ago and it took a few weeks to a month to restock.
|
Well the Sennheisher HD 515 has replaceable parts according to Sennheiser's website. I would prefer to buy off Amazon mainly because I have a lot of gift card credit on there lol. Anyways I still may go for the 515. Open headphones shouldn't be too much of a problem for me. Thanks however
