Bose On-Ear Headphones

For me. My brother got them for me for Christmas, and they're the best pair of anything I've ever owned lol. They're probably not great at all, but they when you're coming from Skullcandy...what am I to say!? :D

For music I tend to use my Sennheiser HD 280 silvers which sound really good but for gaming I really enjoying my Roccat Kave's which I just got about 5 days ago after my Tritton AXPros started to break after ~2 years of hard use. The Kave's are better than the Tritton's overall btw but are hard to find in the States.

Im looking to get some new headphones, atm im using the headphones my parents gave me because they didnt like the sound of my games (fair enouth), I would like them to be: <40 pounds, have a mic and quite good quality (for the price). Also if there is anything that is signifcantly cheap but still has a mic and isnt rubish then that would be good to, i havnt got a lot of money.

Do dedicated headphone amplifiers really make a difference? My experience with amplifiers (just general HiFi amplifiers) has been that it doesn't make too much of a difference. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I just don't feel that I'm getting that much out of my AHD-5000. I prefer my two channel system by a large margin, and even in terms of resolving ability.

Any thoughts or recommendations for a good headphone amplifier for the AHD-5000s?

As an update, I ended up buying the SRH440s. They're not as comfortable as the Siberias, but they're better in every other way. Sound quality, isolation, construction, look, everything. I'm quite satisfied.

So I ended up winning some Dr Dre Beats studio headphones.

These are a demo model from from what i can tell, basically same as the Retail Studios but it uses AC Power instead of batteries, and doesnt have any of the crosstalk function/case/cloth/etc.

They sound great, but I'm having a problem with my onboard sound, when playing some games (usually low-res or older games) i get a very high frequency pitch that changes around as the game changes screens/graphics, most noticeable in diablo 2, broodwar, and audiosurf. works fine with my stereo receiver/ipod/laptop. so i've basically harrowed it down to my onboard.

So I'm looking to purchase a soundcard. i just want high fidelity (not audiophile fidelity) with no interference. Probably don't need an amp or any of that jazz because they are already amplified.

I have little need for a front bay or anything either, SPDIF output is key, because I do have a optical line from my onboard to my surround sound receiver, however i can probably just use the onboard for that if i have to.

What can you enthusiasts recommend?

EDIT: I should also mention I'm not looking to spend more then ~100ish.

Heh, enthusiasts would recommend you sell the beats and then you'll have enough to buy a pair of headphones that blow the beats away in terms of sound quality and still have enough left for a good sound card.

Take a look around this thread, there have already been a ton of posts on what headphones have good value, and some posts on sound cards as well.

Help me out here guys please. Been looking around for a while and narrowed it down to three options. I listen to mostly electronic music, and like the feeling of having the sound in my head rather than around it. I also like having the headphones themselves resting on top of my ears rather than around them - i assume all of these are like that right?

Oh, and I have a Xonar D2X

I understand the general opinion on the headphones itself, the fact is I did not pay a single cent for a pair a 300 dollar headphones that some people have probably stabbed some1 to get.

anyways. thanks for the input, ive been browsing this thread for the last 20 or so minutes, the general consensus is don't drop the money on beats. Well i didn't, they are decent, above average if you will, and im just trying to get the most out of them. I am not looking for a new headset since these do their job fantastically. I just have no clue what to look for in a sound card.

I have a pair of these, and I'll tell you honestly: they are both expensive, and freaking amazing headphones. I've owned a good number of different kinds, and the Bose headphones I have are easily the best out of any I've ever warn. The sound quality is crazy good, and they're fantastic at shutting out noises from outside.

I use Klipsch Image X5 earbuds. They have an amazingly flat response for only using 1 driver. Extremely good sound quality.

I also have a pair of these, they're very good sound quality for the price to be honest, I didn't want to spend $700 on a nice pair of audiophile headphones so these definitely do the trick...

If you're willing to go a little higher than $100 then take a look at http://www.htomega.com/claro.html or some of their other products, I have the card linked myself and for the price I paid for it (I got it on sale fole $80 or something) its absolutely amazing...

Saw the Review for the Audio-Techinica ATH-M50s and searched amazon. Two came up looking like the picture the person posted but there is a 1 dollar price diff and the names are diff. Can someone explain this to me as i want a good pair of headphones to listen to music while i play SC2.

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-Studio-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B000P62ND6/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1299187040&sr=1-4

and

Is there an actual diff or am I just dumb? Figured I'd ask about it because I really liked the persons review and all that and don't wanna buy the wrong kind lol.

I like coiled wiring because it's sturdier and you can make the cord longer. The only problem is that it makes the headphones harder to move with a coiled wire. (also you can put the microphone wire between the coils.)

started with the original steelseries 5H USB which were aweful:

then went to the sennheiser hd555's
[image loading]
which work beautifully to this day but i gave em to a buddy who's headphones gave out

so i tried the pc350s
[image loading]
and it felt like having suction cups on my head so i also gave those away to another buddy lol

then i tried the steelseries siberias
[image loading]
after having 2 pairs of them give out on me I finally tried the Corsair HS1's
[image loading]

and it is what im currently using and very happy with them.
