An an American, I absolutely 100% support their right to sell this book.

Yes, it's a sickening subject, and if the book truly is teaching pedophiles how to molest children without getting caught, I'd say the police need to keep their eye on the author.

However, I don't believe in selective speech; I'll take the good, with the bad, with the downright disgusting.

Pedophilia is one of societies biggest evils... After my PG entrance exams I'm going to write a blog about my experience while doing my rural service as a doctor for 2 years. I've seen the reeaallly bad side of it to such an extent that it I am FLABBERGASTED(and I don't think i've ever used that word b4!) that this book has been published, let alone gone on sale.

He could always just say that this is a work of fiction, and bam, no more sentence. I'm pretty sure that's why songs and other stuff that explicitly talk about doing drugs, violence, etc. cannot ever really be censored. I doubt there will/should be any prosecution for this.

I think it's plenty reasonable to be pissed off at the author and anyone who buys this book. That said, I'm glad Amazon is isn't censoring it. Some drugs are also against the law and there has been -plenty- written about using, obtaining, abusing, etc.

EDIT: Now if in this book the author talks about his personal experiences with molesting children, then I think we should be after him.

Obviously, since you misspelled it. Pedophilia used to be a time honored tradition back in the day, kids would feel honored to be picked as a servant for the upper class. Personally, I think child abuse and sex slavery are the biggest evils... Which is what you "think" pedophilia is. Not what it is but what it's been turned into. Just because extremes exist in this world doesn't mean people have a right to censor it. Lust can lead to very violent and despicable acts, but we don't go around censoring romance novels.

You guys are silly. There are already a million books on Amazon and your local library about how to create bombs, how to hack computers, how serial killers covered up their murders, and why Adolf Hitler should be worshipped. Now, obviously Amazon is a business, and them choosing not to sell a book would in no way be a violation of free speech, but I applaud their decision nonetheless. It would be too easy for them to give in to pressure for the sake of monetary gain.

I haven't read page two but this is going to come up eventually(if it hasn't already), this book in no way encourages pedophile activity just like me reading The Texas Chainsaw Massacre does not suddenly make me want to start ripping through people.

What the hell is wrong with people. There is nothing inherently wrong or evil about knowledge. Surgeons know how to cut people up, does that make them murderers? The CIA knows how to make time bombs and IDE's, does that make them terrorists? Nuclear physicists know how to make nuclear missiles, does that make them tyrants?

It's inane to act like knowledge of something is commensurate with committing the act, and censoring this book would be tantamount to stating that. Get over the stupid indignation and realize that there is nothing wrong with knowing how to do something. Actually doing it is another matter entirely.

By this logic, martial arts should all be banned because they teach people how to assault and batter other people. I've yet to see the martial art that consists of zero attacks.

Freedom of Speech or not, this book can very realistically encourage a closet pedophile to take action and prey on minors. Are the possible consequences worth taking a moral stand? Amazon seems to think so.

It's not forbidden to be a pedophile just like it isn't forbidden to be gay. As long as this book doesn't explicitly encourage the abuse of minors I don't think they can refuse to sell it.

Still, immediatly I expressed disgust, but then I thought of other potentially dangerous books.

Things like lockpicking, dirty fighting, bomb making, revolution inciting.

If we're going to crack down on this book, the natural extrapolation is to crack down on those other dangerous books.

And I'm not willing to do support that.
