As a rule of thumb, you don't want to piss off the people making your food.

Some people have recommended doing things that aggravate people at fast food restaurants.... just don't. It pisses them off, who do you think they are going to retaliate towards?

As per the whole weightlifting vs running thing, there's pros and cons to both. If you want to lose weight, I recommend weight training. You burn more calories resting the more muscle mass you have, while running you burn the calories only while you run. Also, running does a lot of damage to your knees and possibly your back, depending on how and where you run, whereas lifting weights properly can actually help you avoid injury. If you're looking to get cardio, swimming is a great choice.

Understanding balance in every matter is key.

Be strong by yourself before starting a relationship.

This is like understanding balance but is more precise: know when you must think before talking, and do so if you don't know what to say. In general you want to really think before talking every time but when you're having fun or putting your feelings before your mind.
And don't be afraid to be low profile.

Don't look for respect, respect will come if you are true to yourself.

Don't regret, learn.

And this one is for me: learn english, posting on TL will be easier.

Oh another one for me: stop typing tea every time you enter an URL and work on your thesis.

Dont even lift weights.

I recommend swimming and biking.

I've been running a lot and lifting a lot all my life, however I never rode a bike since the age of 10 and I only swim in the summer.

To leave an appropriate tip, multiply the the first digit by 2 and then add one if the second digit is the same or greater than 5.

So for a check of $47, 4 x 2 = 8 + 1 = $9 tip.

In major cities, do not blindly cross a street because the person(s) in front of you is. Often cavalier/impatient street crossers will try and cross quickly between cars before the light has changed. This is dangerous for people who just follow them without being aware that more cars are coming. Look and confirm a passable street for yourself.

Also my favorite life-wisdom quote from Teddy Roosevelt (paraphrase): "The best thing you can do in any situation is the right thing. The second best thing is the wrong thing. The worst is nothing at all."

If you don't have a bottle opener, you can press the lid against the edge of a table-top or use the end of a lighter for leverage to pop the top.

Trying to go to bed in the hot summer time with a oscillating fan but no AC? Wet a washcloth and rub your face with it, then place it on your chest. Your face being wet will make the fan feel much cooler.

You know how people always say to drink ginger ale if your stomach doesn't feel good? It's because of the ginger, and it actually works better if you suck on a piece of actual ginger root (which you can buy in most grocery stores). Doesn't taste that great to most people, but can work.

Scotch & whiskey do not get better with age unlike most wine.

Shop at bakeries at the end of the day--lots of times they will throw in free stuff since they're going to be throwing it away at end of the day anyway.

I just tip a dollar for every 5 spent. At most of the places I eat it's college students working and they need the $ for beer.

Kind of a random one, but if you get tinyurl or bit.ly links, you can check them before visiting the site (a smart move imo)
for tinyurl, simply put the word preview before "tinyurl" like so:
preview.tinyurl.com/blahblahbhshb

for bit.ly, simply add a + to the end of the url like so:
bit.ly/blahblahfsdfsd+

I always wondered if thats possible, ty!

For tips I find the easiest possible way is take the decimal, move it over one place to the left. You now have 10%

45.75$----->4.58$

Now cut that in half, and add the half to that. 4.58/2=2.29ish so add those together (you dont need to be precise at all btw)

so tip would be 4.6 + 2.3 = 6.90$ ezpz

take 10%, half it, add it, done.

thats a really large tip.
it's nearly 20%.

isn't 12.5% appropriate enough tip?
so if the check was 50 bucks, you'd pay 6.25 tip

20% is the standard for "very good" service, while 15% is the standard for "good" service. 10% is pretty much the bare minimum.

But that depends GREATLY on where you are...

Over here in Germany 10% is very decent for tipping... I also round it, so for 9,15€ or 8,85€, just give 10€ and your done...

Nice tips!
Fixed one thou!

-If you get stearin on your clothes, take a piece of paper (any will do) cover the wax, and iron on top of the paper. The stearin will go from your clothes to the paper and the clothes will be waxfree!

-If you dont need/want your clothes, old tv, old sofa, give them away to charity, One mans trash is another mans fortune!

-Regarding Creditcards, im not really sure how it works in the US, what i understand is that to have good cretid, you kind of have to use the creditcard? And just show that you are a fast payer and so on? Maybe someone can fill me in on that. Anyway: Atleast in scandinavia, Dont use creditcards or borrow money somehow (via storedeals or whatnot) to buy casual stuff. If you cannot wait until you can pay with money upfront (cash, prepaid card etc) its usually not worth it. If there is no other way then to take some sort of loan, pay it off as soon as possible.

-Buying expensive stuff, (like a car) dont take the dealerships loans. Borrow the money from the bank to a lower interest and more generous plans instead.

-Tip if you go out and eat. In most countries in europe, round up the bill.
