It doesn't matter that other races couldn't build the country, the point is they fucking didn't. So don't ignore the efforts of those who did. Of course you can't see I'm exaggerated. Be more stupid please. you obviously are not "exaggerated" about the "white males that built this country" because you're making a point about it. i never said to ignore the "efforts" of those who built this country, i'm just saying that there's no reason why you have to say "white males" as if they were the ones that made this country "so great" as if this country is doing a great job with social issues and foreign policy right now. i would have to say that white supremacy and white male domination in all social/economic/political aspects actually HURTS this country. You keep saying you're not racist, whatever.
This is American History you idiot. Not current American issues. If you look at American History notice how many accomplishments were made by white men. The constitution was written by white men, and slavery was ended by white men for example. You said that black men and women weren't allowed to participate in government, so therefore most of the accomplishment was done by white men.
Just so we know:
The test didn't mention George Washington once. The test didn't mention Andrew Jackson once. The test's only mention of WWII was women's role in it. I don't think the test mentioned Abraham Lincoln.
This is bullshit. This isn't an issue of racism or male supremacy, this is about the fact that key people in American History are being ignored because they are white, which is bullshit. Should I just forget that Martin Luther King Junior lead the black civil rights movement in the 60's because he was black. No, because that is bullshit. This is starting to go in the "I can't think of anything better to say other than ReaPeR is a racist direction." Also for suggesting I'm racist you earn a spot on the lamer list.

USAIAN!
I'm not sure what the deal is with the American thing. When people are given a name such as that usually it is named after their country. The United States of America is the only country I can think of that has America as part of its name. In every language Americans are called the equivolent (Amerikaner in German, for instance) of Americans. Don't see why it needs to change. Just tell them that Americans are from the country of America and not either of the continents.

how is "ending slavery" an accomplishment by white men when it was started by white men in the first place?
"i'll start smoking tomorrow and then quit" "quitting smoking is the one of the hardest things to do, what an accomplishment!"

The white men that started slavery were racist fucks who had no consideration for the idea that those enslaved we human beings.
The white men that stopped slavery at the very least understood that the concept was morally wrong.
Different fucking kinds of white people. It's not like slave owners put a stop to it. Fucking hell stop trying to oversimplify the situation!

you seriously believe white people are being *excluded* from american history tests based on reverse racism because they are white?
also, i'm proud to be on your "lamer list" (blatant copy of stimey if you ask me) as every time you post people know that i will probably disagree with you. every time you post something stupid, "Hot_Bid" will be at the bottom, a symbol of non-stupidity.
judging by your track record i believe this to be often. btw hows that michael moore thread coming? still fighting the good fight?

YES!!!! HOW CAN GEORGE WASHINGTON, THE FATHER OF OUR COUNTRY, NOT BE ON THERE UNLESS IT'S SOME REVERSE RACIST BULLSHIT.
Won't respond to the rest, it's too stupid.

EDIT: I will not respond to anyone that calls me either a racist or chauvinist, because I am neither.
First off, how much did we actually build?
We didn't do it all, and I don't know what test you took.

first, you're generalizing about a group of people, ie you are so proud that white people "built" this country when in fact they just happened to be in the right place at the right time and were the majority.
second, you separate "good white people" from "bad white people" (keep in mind there are MANY racist white people out there today). this is something that white people DO NOT DO with black people.
by your own logic, there are two "different fucking kinds" of black people: the kind white people like, like Michael Jordan and that guy from reading rainbow, then all the other black people who are drug dealers and thieves.
unfortunately, the police pull over rich black people driving expensive cars why? because "black people commit the most crimes."
by your logic, those are the "bad black people," so why should the "good black people" be punished for it?

also, i'm a history major and the AP test was very easy, regardless of the political correctness (i don't disagree with Excal that the poli correctness has gone too far). by your awesome sample size of ONE TEST in ONE YEAR that omits certain presidents, how can you say that there is reverse racism? there were definitely more white people mentioned on the test i took. i'm pretty sure if you reread your test you will find that THERE IS NO REVERSE RACISM ON STANDARDIZED TESTING.

- There is to be no mention of Christmas because it offends people who aren't Christian.
I think this may be wrong too, beacuse Christmas does not necessarily represent all things religious and does not have to be a religious holiday--it resembles many other things like good will and generosity. I know my family isn't Christian but we still celebrate Christmas--gift giving, decorations, and generally merriment, but no church or celebration of jesus' birth.
I know some people take issue with the name, whatever.

My memory is slightly sketchy in recalling everything in the list, but here's what I remember clearly:
- The word "snowman" is sexist. It must be replaced with "snowperson". - Calling someone "old" is ageist. Come on! Did the word "ageist" even EXIST before now? STOP MAKING UP WORDS! - There is to be no mention of "Americans" because that is geographically chauvenist. The proper term is now "people of the United States". - Dogs mentioned in the tests cannot have the names Cheyenne, Madison, or Pete. Come on... PETE?! They are afraid a little kid named Pete will take the test and get all freaked out because the dog has the same name, and he'll think "ARE THEY SAYING I'M A DOG???" - "Tote bag" is offensive. The correct term is "brown paper bag" but I forget the reasoning behind it. - There is to be no mention of Christmas because it offends people who aren't Christian. - There is to be no mention of birthdays because it offends people whose religion does not recognize birthdays (Jehovah's Witnesses).
There was more but you get the idea. They said "tests are stressful enough for kids, they're hard for kids." Yeah. You want to know about stress? There are a heck of a lot more stressful things in the world than this nonsense. What about paying bills? Paying off debt or a mortgage. That's stressful. Sheltering our kids is only going to hurt them.
This kind of nonsense is ruining our childrens' futures. When they take these kinds of tests and go out into the real world to get a job, what's going to happen? Is Pete going to go to his boss's house for dinner and ask for a raise, then get declined?
Pete: "Boss can I have a raise?" Boss: "Gee sorry son we just can't spare it." Pete: "OH MY GOSH WHAT OH NO AAAH" Boss: "By the way I'd like you to meet my dog whose name is Pete." Pete: "WHAT YOUR DOG'S NAME IS PETE! ARE YOU SAYING I'M A DOG! AAAAAAAH"
Give me a break! That sounds sad! For once I'm in 100% agreement with you.

My friend just told me about how Robert Frost's poem "Old Man by the Sea" was banned in some school because it contained banned words.
"Old" of course which we've established is "ageist".
and get this...
"Sea" because it isn't fair to inland students who may not be able to conceptualize what a sea or ocean might be. ...... 1984 is happening right before our eyes...

That last part of what Excalibur posted is the first funny thing to ever come from him.

Well if they're not gonna mention Christmas they better not mention any other religious holidays from ANY religion.
A lot of how students do on tests is based on the context of the questions. Contextual knowledge is often shaped by the child's cultural environment, which race affects. It would be better for standardized tests to mention less race/class/religion specific things, but at the same time it's difficult to really test people on knowledge without presenting a context in which to demonstrate that knowledge. I think it's a catch-22.

Give me a break! The entire point of these tests is to give an objective measure of the students ability. If you're in 5th grade, calling the people of the United States "Americans" could be confusing. Does that mean people from South America? Central America? All these answers would be technically correct. Eliminating the word "American" eliminates a lot of ambiguity. Agism is indeed a word, although the phrase Age Discrimination is more commonly used. There are growing numbers of legal suits for Age Discrimination in the workplace. It's not made up, nor is it particularly new. These tests are manditory in many of the schools in which they are administered. Given that they have the force of government behind them, it makes sense to do whatever one can to avoid offending people. Why mention Christian Holidays if you don't have to? A muslim or buddist child may not understand, just as your christian kid might not understand a question about kwaanza. I don't really think changing "snowman" to "snowperson" makes a huge diference, but if it offends someone why not just change it? Is it really that important? Children are not adults. That is why we don't expect children to pay mortgages, raise other kids, etc. Applying adult standards to children makes zero sense. Nor does worrying about an 5th-8th grader's ability to get a job. The thing is we (sadly I'd have to include myself amongst the kids since I'm only 15) are being treated like we are retarded and it's sort of getting worse and worse year by year -_-
