Just felt it. Epicenter in baja California. Water splashed out from my pool about 4 to 5 feet... Lots of quakes it seems recently... Jesus has truly risen! Our verizon wireless phones are down... Sorry for no article I'm on my iPod... Was a super long quake though... No dmg tho in the house...

EDIT: Sorry for shitty OP, I was editing with my iPod for a link or something with more detail, but the family went to a family friend's, who's power was out. Thus I couldn't connect to the internet or anything! The entire city power of Dana Point got knocked out.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/04/04/mexico.earthquake/index.html?hpt=T1

(CNN) -- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Baja California in northwestern Mexico on Sunday, shaking the ground at least as far away as Los Angeles, California, the U.S. Geological Survey and witnesses reported.

The quake struck at 3:40 p.m. PT and was centered about 175 kilometers (110 miles) east-southeast of Tijuana, according to the USGS.

Chandeliers swung and water sloshed around in swimming pools in the Los Angeles suburbs, witnesses reported, while posters to Twitter reported feeling the quake in Phoenix, Arizona.

I would hope not.

But ya I felt it pretty good in San Diego. Starts shaking a bit, "Oh an earthquake". 5 secs later its still shaking a bit: "Oh this might be a big earthquake maybe I should get up from my comp". It then started to shake pretty violently for a few more secs. Lasted pretty long.

Is it just me or do there seem to be an unusually large number of natural disasters occurring in the last ten years?

Is there a chance this is the precursor to a larger earthquake?

There have been 3.0's/4.0's in the same area for the last couple days, this was probably the big one that those little ones were the precursor to.

ITS THE END TIMES!

In all seriousness, I think its more willingness to broadcast about these sorts of things, because it makes a good narrative to drive 24hour news programming.

No, just the hype has gone up considerably since Katrina and Haiti, now every hurricane and comparatively common earthquake is big news.

From my (very limited) experiance I think the strong earthquakes usually come first and then weaker ones follow. I've never (again very limited) experianced anythin opposite to that.

No, the 4.1 earthquake looks like it was in S. Cali.

And it was 5.1.

Didn't feel it too much in the Pasadena area, just some light shaking. Nothing major.

I think that mostly you are more aware of them happening since you have been living the past 10 years while before that you were too young to care.

We had some intense and record rain showers/storms in New England. The rain was quite steady, lasted about 3 straight days last week.

Power just got back up for me. I live in El Centro near the border, the earthquake knocked out power in the entire town, but not too much structural damage. A couple of light posts fell down, a water store got fucked, bunch of shit fell down in other houses, etc.

Scared the shit out of me when it hit :S

dude what in the HELL it was UNREAL. It felt like you were on the ocean. Very slow, but strong rocking back and forth and in all different directions. Almost felt like you were on a tectonic plate with MAGMA underneath.

I'm in San Diego and damnit I wish I could have experienced it at home. I was driving and just felt a quick shook. Thought my car was acting up but then 2 secs later that was it. Everyone called me and made a big deal out of it like it was something big. I was like wtf, was that what that shook was?? So overall, no big deal

My bro was in this quake, I get to live in the quakeless Nebraska though.

And yes, quakes seem to be happening more often as of late.

Alright so I just busted out a ruler on this map:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Maps/US10/27.37.-120.-110.php

As far as I can tell LA/Pheonix are both about 200 miles from the epicenter.

Where the heck you get 800 miles from.

Felt it in Los Angeles, didn't know it was a quake until several hours later. I was watching TV with my mom and both of us started to feel real nauseous, so I went outside to get some fresh air. Found out later that an earthquake hit TJ.

i cant wait for hurricane season to start again in south florida >_< we've been lucky the last few years haven't had anything major since like 2003 or 04, so we're pretty much due to get hit by another hurricane soon =)

the last time one came close to my city I had no electricty for literally 15 days, in the middle of summer in florida -_-;;;;;;;;

I live in baja, minutes from the epicenter. Just as socal residents, people from this place are used to quakes but this one was quite different. We were without power for almost 10 hours, no major incidents that I know of, I understand there are 100 injured and 2 dead.
Time is always on my side

Hahaha I sent an email to my parents asking if they were ok... this was the response...
"I felt the shake when I was sitting on the message chair. It was slow motion like. When I asked if any one felt the shake even when it was going on, Dad said NO."
