It all started when me and my buddy started playing the Gears of War campaign while drinking just about every night (btw it makes the games so much better and harder)...
We started this joke when he randomly said, "Dude this game is all about meat." And if you've ever played either... it's kinda funny when you think about it. It's true. So during the first campaign we started this Meat joke. We began referring to ANYTHING irl that was "badass, crazy, difficult, etc" using the term "meat" and any form of it. Common phrases would be "You just have to use your meat." or "Oh man that's so meaty."
To make a long story short, that's the end haha. Especially when we started playing through GoW2, it's almost as if the creators were also in on this joke. I mean, at one point you get swallowed by a giant worm and literally machinegun-chainsaw your way out. There's nothing meatier, especially when it's accompanies by Marcus Phoenix yelling things like, "Aw shit!" or "COME ON!!" or, my favorite, "Dom!"
But anyway, my name's Matt, so I just added an 'e' in there to come up with the meatiest nickname ever. And my portrait is the siege tank guy... super meaty.

and for some inexplicable reason I changed it to noble bunny. it only became Elbon bunny after I met a girl who's second name was noble and thought it was weird that I was using her name as my username so I changed it. Also when with Elbon ynnub for a while but ynnub makes no sense.

as a little kid, just got in touch with mangas i read a manga called neji what means screw in japanese and was the name of the protagonist. i liked the story and the main charakter so i decided to take his name as my ID, it but accidental misspelled it . my ID nenji was born ^^

My nick is the result of several mutations. It started out as the name of a cartoon figure. I then made an anagram of it. The anagram was unusable as a nick because it was somewhat vulgar. I therefore removed some letters, and got a reasonably short nick that was usable.
I intend to use that nick (if it's available) when I start playing SCII multiplayer games. For TL, I opted to use a synonym of my intended SCII nick. Now I guess I'm forced to play zerg because the acidic nature of that race fits my nick nicely.
It's not part of my grand scheme to reveal more details about the forging of my nick quite yet.

I recently changed my sc2 id to Moxen.
In Magic: The Gathering (card game) there are five original 'moxen.' Mox - Ruby, Pearl, Sapphire, Emerald and Jet. When people refer to them they're called moxen.

The ID i use for gaming is Another,
it was around the time i started listening to bullet for my valentine, and i was absoletly hooked on the song Just another star, so i made an account on WC3 JustAnotherStar, this was around the time i joined my first clan (MsY - just before they merged with a1) i think i ended up playing 1 league game, lol. but anyway, i needed a name. and since i was currently on JustAnotherStar, i shortened it to Another.
now when i play sc2 ladder, everyone goes "lol another toss good one" and it pisses me off :D

I'm a roleplayer from the beginning, and as a roleplayer I make up characters (yeah, really x3) and my favourite on was actually named Wintersreach in last name. So when I felt like changing from my last one (Drakhys, which is the female title of a ruler of the land of Azkhendir in the Tears of Artamon book series (which kicks serious ass)) I just decided to go with my favourite character.
Though I sometimes go under the name LadyWintersreach (since my character was a lord) or simply Winter when I can.
I change nicks far too often :/ been through like, ten-twelve just this year, hehe.

After playing runescape for many many years( UGH!!!) I was so into pking(player killing). At the time the fun thing to do was clan wars where when the clans fought in the wilderness, they would shout ftw_______ w/e their clan was.
So i combined that with pker( a player killer) and voila I got ftwpker.

I find myself fascinated by certain details many people think nothing about. For some reason, I really like the number 9. I notice many bands and movies do as well. I'm not sure what it is about 9, but I really like it.
One of my favorite bands of all time is Dillinger Escape Plan. It revolutionized the way I view music to this day. Since I'm on a computer for much of my waking life for some reason (programming, gaming, watching stuff, school, etc), I use Esc instead of Escape. So yea... EscapePlan -> EscPlan -> EscPlan9

My first ever Id was
Headstrong: I thought the name sounded cool. People called me that semi often but I had no idea what it meant. Then that stupid Trapt song came out and ruined it. People thought I copied my name from that song.
Then came:
Silverback: Made me think of myself as this badass king of the jungle gorilla.
After that all my names came from professional paintball teams. I thought they were creative.
Strange (always gonna be my fav. but they disbanded so I changed)
XSV (pronounced "Excessive")
And my current one: Dynasty, or DieNasTy. Someone took Dynasty here on tl but I never see posts with that name.

I first heard about Team Liquid shortly after I got the game. I really wanted to put the Liquid' tag in my name, but then I (thankfully) realized that that was a desperate move. So i kept something similar and went for molten. Lead was just lead because I had just seen a discovery channel show in which they did something with lead, and voila.
Also, I still remember Idra when he was asked, how he sarcastically said he was a big fan of idra.com

It was waaaay back when I was making my first ID for SC1 when I was like 6 years old. I had just read a book about phoenixes and they sounded really cool so I tried to make the ID Phoenix, which was regretably taken. So what did I do? Move onto the next best thing ofc! Dark_Phoenix, which was also taken, then my brother suggested Darth_Phoenix like from starwars, it kinda sounded like Dark but there's no way it was going to be taken.
Then through various games the ID Box wasn't long enough to fit the Phoenix in, so I dropped that. So now my ID is simply Darth wherever I go or some variation on it, when Darth is taken I just add the XX onto the end which is what you see here on TL

In July 2010 I was eagerly anticipating the release of Starcraft 2 and was looking for streams of people playing the beta so I could get into it more (this is how I stumbled upon teamliquid). I ended up watching a stream, and I needed a username in order to be able to chat. I opened up the new account menu, looked at the username box and the first thing that popped into my head was "DOORHANDLE!! How outrageous!" and that's how it all came to be. It was either that or "Dangerhorse", I now alternate between the two for different account names.

I like how many names are a result of Magic: the Gathering...I frequently choose names from cards in other games, like in WoW all my characters were some kind of legendary dragon, my main being Ryusei...anyway I'm glad so many Starcraft players like Magic too 
Anyway, my name was actually invented by my roommate in my first year of college I believe. We were playing Counterstrike and I wanted a handle that wasn't corny like "Bloodbath" or "Rambo". I think we saw a guy named "Mr. Dangerous" and thought it would be funny to be named "Mr. Scared" or something along those lines. I'm pretty sure my roommate said "Mr. Cautious" and it sounded good. I spoke pretty passable Spanish and I thought everything sounded more exotic if it wasn't English, plus SenorCuidado is rare enough that it's never taken when I need to choose a user name. Unfortunately everyone mispronounces it... but I've used it in every game I've played for the last six years
