Read Shahnameh a few years ago for a mythology class and it had a lot of stories about a character named Rostam, he ~~seemed like~~ was a badass so I took it as an ID.

Mine is actually my university e-mail address. When I was first registering as a student, they gave me a list of options based off of my name. Not knowing that you can make it anything you want, I took the one based off of my first and middle names. PETER EDward --> petered.

I thought it sounded kinda like a verb, like you just got petered.

Since then I have used that identifier for almost everything since it is easy to remember and I have bad memory.

Came up with it about 6 years ago when I first got Xbox Live and has stuck ever since. My IRL name is Theo, but Teo sounds more electronicy, and I'm a gamer!

Was playing a lot of Delta force 2 back in the day (98' ), my nick was Blood&Guts and everyone was calling me BG because it's much faster/easier to spell. When I started playing competitively we had to use short name tags in our matches and I've been using BG ever since pretty much. The 1 in the end is simply because nowadays most thing require a minimum of 3 characters.

My names comes from a Gundam Wing movie. It was one of the first animes I ever watched, and I thought the name and the movie was amazing. So I've been using it as username ever since. There was also a quote in the movie that uses it that I thought was fantastic.

I needed a name for a character in Neverwinter Nights, it was an elf and I didn't want to use the name generator that NWN used, so I just let my fingers do whatever they pleased and I ended up with Alakaterai, which was my nick of choice after Jehoven (inside joke).

Since nobody could ever be bothered to actually type out or pronounce my entire nick, I was constantly called Alak and I've been using that in anything multiplayerish ever since.
