+ Show Spoiler +The Japanese company that designed Sarah Palin's thin-rimmed specs has released a new set of glasses to fight "dry eye." The condition affects gamers, readers and others who stare at screens or pages for long stretches of time, causing a lower than average blinking rate.
Masunaga Optical Manufacturing Co.'s new Wink Glasses feature a tiny sensor that monitors the wearer's eye-blink activity. If the users' eyes go more than five seconds without blinking, tiny liquid crystals cause the lenses to become opaque, fogging vision. The wearer is forced to blink, after which the lenses immediately de-frost.
The high-tech glasses protect customers' eyes from fatigue and dehydration. But, they're not cheap, be ready to shell out $430.
Am I the only one blinking right now?
here is a pic:

kinda get the blinks now after reading, "lower than average blinking rate"
ugh, I'm now manually blinking.
My god that would be annoying. I'll take the dry eye.

You are now also manually breathing.

manual living is the way to go

lol, I never get dry eyes. So this company is crazy!

Anyways, as far as gaming glasses go I'd stick with Gunnar Optiks. Halo pros use them a bit.

emo says this gadget is useless.

My BPM is like 200, last time I checked Boxers BPM is 180 so I think I'm good.

Just what I need, glasses that fog up when I'm staring intently at something important

Never heard of those glasses but now I want one
I have a little bit of astigmatism, does this help?
Honestly, this seems pretty stupid. 430$ for a blink reminder?

This would be so damn annoying. I'd rather get eye drops or something.

sooo expensive for something so useless. I never get dry eyes...
It would be so lame.... when everyone else sees me wearing one of those, they'll laugh.... besides it probably costs tons of money and prone to malfunction
I also tend to hold my breath during tense moments in games. What should I do?
I would recommend that you breathe durring these moments. I've heard that people who hold their breath for any reason... workout... thinking... stress... sleep... its a very bad thing. Break the habbit nao k.

what's next? a shit reminder?
lol

A better way to do it would be for a device to emit a loud wailing sound whenever it detects that you don't blink. In this way you actually train yourself to blink for the blink-impaired and raise your BPM.
why would you need to be forced to blink, just blink yourself... when i play ffr, i dont blink for long periods of time because i cant, if something forced me to blink, it would screw me up.
wow what a waste of money ><
save yourself 430 dollars and post a sticky note next to your monitor saying "blink more".

I looked at their technology section and all I found are empty words like "we use advanced geometry to blah and technology this to blah" It never describe how their stuff works lol. Looks like a joke to me

its over 9000! *crushes scouter*
seriously, how fucking annoying would it be if you were concentrating intensely and your fucking glasses fog up?
I've heard that people who hold their breath for any reason...sleep... its a very bad thing yea this guy is a genius i didn't know people hold their breathes in their sleep

Since it only covers 1 eye, I'd more more inclined to think "O, now I have to wink my right and put eye drops in my left eye"
But when I got to the end of the first post, all I could think was "There's a Visene(c) for that."
those glasses look god damned retarded, who would wear them...
i want boxer's gaming glasses. where do i get those?
my eyes are so dry that i can use up a bottle of visine in about 1-2 weeks...
These are better, look how relaxed those eyes look.

I don't have much trouble blinking on my own.

Same, you really have time to blink with 100+ APM.
"Dry eye"? What the hell, I've never heard of such a thing. And I've never had any trouble with my eyes feeling extra dry after a game or ten...
Feels kind of like the DVD-rewinder scam.
Yea, really dumb. It'd be so annoying if you were playing and it always fogged up.
P.S. Does anyone else think that person looks like Stork?
what if they look retarted? its for indoor use... so style is not important, but really... why would u waste 430$ dollars on that shit, just buy eyedrops or wash eyes before starting practice.

I think the person looks kind of like stork as well.
I'm not sure that they would work better than just taking a break between games.
And boxer would hate these glasses - iirc didn't he say somewhere that he thought about when to blink? (his biography maybe, but it's been a long time since i read it)

Right as you engage a terran with a maxed arbiter/ground army, you select your arbiters... and go blind. How annoying would that be?

Hahahaha. I just hope everybody blinks while they micro, otherwise these glasses might screw up your bunker rush!
Or we could wait for "dry eye" then blink...
This looks really stupid. :-\

I think the dry eye/not blinking is partially to blame for people with bad eyes who have had computer jobs for the last few decades.
Wow, lol kinda cool and sad at the same time. If you dont know when to blink you dont deserve to live. And imagine if you lost a sc game because you had to blink and couldnt see because of the fog.... FUCK.
It's so much easier to just buy a bottle of allergy/redness eye drops and keep them next to the monitor.
425$ savings. No dryness anymore. Plus, if you're microing really hard when the glasses fog on you, you're screwed. Not so w/ eye drops.
i wore glasses as a child, switched to contacts at highschool, and now im in college and i'm starting to want a pair of stylish glasses just to look badass when i want to
i think it's because of watching pro-gamers, tbh.

Oh that really must suck. Not being able to control an involuntary reflex as easy yet as important as blinking...I hope gaming didn't cause the damage
Wow at first I thought this person couldn't blink eyes but now...I don't think this will be very useful because blinking is involuntary and happens automatically so you don't even notice it
Anyways going along with this, my school, Sycamore High School in Ohio, is considering switching all textbooks over to online texts, with only one in-class set for each teacher, to save paper and money.
i think everyone should get these and they all should be synchronized to fog up every 20 seconds or so, so that everyone in the world will be blinking at the same time all day long!
that is intense and makes me so aware
I don't blink much when I play... that results in my eyes watering up and I look like I'm crying. It happened at wcg too
I don't blink when I watch intense movies. I can feel my eyes getting dry
my eyes get really dry when i play SC/watch movies/read for long periods of time, but you can get hundreds of bottles of eye drops for the $430 price tag

Great now I'm blinking like a madman and breathing heavily
Maybe some EAT/SLEEP/DRINK-Reminder glasses for Silent_Control
Edit: just realized the the thread is 4 pages and only read the last one. Excuse me if someone else already made this lame joke!
