On a more serious note, I don't understand why the girl would ever agree to this. Even if she loved him, or was threatened to death, every single day the man survives is a surprise given his age. This marriage will not last very long even if they are happy together.
Edit: I gotta say, that he looks a lot younger than 112 on the image, and she looks a bit older than 17 as well. Then again, you CAN look a lot younger if you live a healthy life. I think a couple people who have made the point about social context are right on the nose. Marriage often happens for very different reasons than love or desire for the other person. The accomplishment of having married is often enough in itself, depending on the socieconomic standing of the person and the cultural context in which the match takes place. I met many people in India when I was there who had arranged marriages, agreed on by their parents, that they were pressured into and agreed to because of social expectations, or the idea that they had better take what they could get because they weren't desireable enough for a better match, economically or otherwise.
