Kanye West was a dick, and what he did was a dicky move too, even though, in my opinion, Swift didn't really deserve the award.
What happened? Taylor Swift received the award Best Female Artist Video, or something along those lines. While she was up there making her speech, Kanye West comes on stage, grabs the microphone from her hands, and talks about how Beyonce had the best video ever. Then he gives the mic back to Swift, and leaves her obviously stunned.
I think Pink, Katy Perry, or Beyonce really deserved the award, but again, Kanye is an asshole, and this is one more reason to hate him and his shitty auto-tune.

How the hell does he just get to walk on stage like that? There should have been security at the stage. However, it seems that MTV benefited from the event. Kanye West was asked to leave Radio City Music Hall not long after he crashed the MTV Video Music Awards stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video.
The rapper rushed onto the stage and immediately protested Swift's win, saying Beyoncé instead deserved the honor.

Two years later at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards, West took his complaints to the stage in a similar fashion to tonight's rant.
Justice and Simian's "We Are Your Friends" bested West for an award and the rapper interrupted their speech as he popped up onstage saying he should have won, because his clip "cost a million dollars and Pamela Anderson was in it."
He later apologized for his stunt, explaining he had a "little sippy sippy" before the production.
West seemed to take that instance in stride as he joked he was going to have another "sippy sippy" before the night was over.
But his verbal attack against Swift had a more vicious tone. According to a tweet from Jay-Z's DJ, Neil Armstrong, Swift and her mother were seen backstage crying afterward; Beyoncé brought Swift onstage for another chance at her acceptance speech later in the show. Various celebs have lashed out against West on Twitter, including Pink, who had to be escorted away from the rapper by security.
Prior to Sunday night's show, West was captured by photographers on the red carpet swigging from a bottle of Hennessey. In multiple pictures West can be seen cradling the bottle as he and his girlfriend Amber Rose were snapped; he is also seen sharing the bottle with Pete Wentz, and in a different shot, West is standing near Joe Jackson, who is holding it. Following his rant against Swift, West returned to his seat and flipped off the audience, who began booing him, before he sat down.
He was booed again in the show when Diddy announced the nominees for Best Male Video. "What I say?" Diddy asked, as the boos rained down.
West had already left Radio City Music Hall by then, however.

From what I can gather Kanye was supposed to win video of the year as well as best rap song for Love Lockdown, but after MTV kicked him out they gave his awards to the no. 2 spots of each (Beyonce and T.I., respectively). Kanye was also supposed to perform apparently.

fake video, read the comments -- beyonce makes garbage music, but her voice is leaps and bounds ahead of most other vocalists in the industry.
in general, there are shittons of artists out there with great voices who make awful music. bad music does not equate to bad singing -- lady gaga has made some of the worst music i've ever heard, but there are clips of just her and a piano and she is actually a damn fine singer.
in the end, you're still wrong about beyonce, you'd be very hard pressed to find someone else with her level of tone, control, and vocal range

Not to burst your bubble, but you have to be aware of how airbrushed and how make-upped she is. That picture isn't a great indication of her looks. That being said, she's decent looking. Not amazing, but not bad. But please note, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. None of these things you guys are arguing over are facts.

Obviously people's standards for celebrities are higher than their standards for real life. You happened to choose a pretty good picture, Hot_Bid, but after looking at the first page of Google Images, I would tend to agree that by celebrity standards Taylor Swift is nothing special. in the current music industry where shitty singers can make it big (see: miley cyrus and even our very own taylor swift, who is just awful live), i don't think i'm overrating her at all. you won't see her on stage at the met (partly because she never went that direction despite being classically trained, although i do doubt that she'd be able to lay comfortably as a mezzo/soprano in an opera setting), but she definitely has the ability to sing very well. her vocal range is huuuuuge (not quite like mariah carey's full 5-octave range going up into the head tones/whistle register though), she has a rich, full voice, and, from what i've heard of her, she has the lungs to put power behind it. seriously, who in the current pop/rnb industry do you think can match her? mariah carey sure, christina aguilera yes, kelly clarkson not close. alicia keys is good but not quite like this, britney spears was never at this level (and she's just bad now) -- and the greats of old aren't really around the mainstream industry anymore (whitney houston, celine dion, aretha, labelle, etc). she's very similar to aaliyah who was a great singer in her own right.

To me Taylor Swift is good looking but not attractive. My impression of her is failed innocence, but Jessica Biel is hot, same with Jessica Alba. There are others that I can't think of right now. There may never be any way to know for sure why Kanye West stormed the stage last night and interrupted Taylor Swift as she accepted Best Female Video at the MTV VMA’s. Oh wait never mind. apparently this vid is faked. But even if it isnt suposedly she was lip syncing and just singing along. If you hear her live performances you really cant say shes just alright. I thought he apologized quickly as a get out of jail free card to skirt responsibility for his actions. He can't do whatever he wants. It's not a question of who's worth more or who is a better artist or how Swift acted afterward. You don't go on stage and disrespect someone like that. It doesnt matter who you are or how much power in pop culture you have.
taylor switf to my understanding writes her own songs too which you have to respect even if you dont like them. Most country/pop singers dont do that. (granted all of her songs sound pretty much the same)

Yea, but she didn't REALLY deserve it. The award was for best music video after all. I'd probably be angry too if her pos video won if it was something I was passionate about. That's exactly what I was thinking. How is "Single Ladies" one of the best videos of all time? It's trash. Not that Taylor's was much better (it was crap too, so is that stupid fucking song), but still, how is that one of the best of all time? The song "Single Ladies" is unbearably annoying too. I want to kick small children when I hear it.
Do I think Kayne should have done what he did? No, probably not. Is Single Ladies a better video? Absolutely.
I'll take a video that has style, interesting lighting/camera angles, good dancing and amazing choreography any day of the week over Taylor Swift's garbage. I'm not saying that Single Ladies is an amazing video by any means, but rather that people are getting caught up in this "mean" act and instantly discrediting Beyonce. If you were to ask people who have studied cinematography which video was better, I'm willing to bet some money that there would be a resounding vote in favor of Beyonce.
