Dare I say what he did in 96 was Lebronesque. 54 wins (3rd/4th in division lol) with a terrible team and terrible coach. Their move to keep him was to get Jerry fucking Stackhouse, who avged 30ppg on 40% shooting. SWEET!

SWEET! a terrible team? they had an AWESOME guard lineup, and overall not too bad. a still efficient/good Joe Dumars, Lindsey Hunter (whoa great backup PG), Grant Hill (beastly), Theo Ratliff was young and actually good at the time... and then some fairly decent role players for the time, it's not like that team was a bunch of scrubs ![]()

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/DET/1997.html Otis Thorpe was the only other good player on that team, league leader in personal fouls.

Dumars was in the last few years of his career, but he was a defensive beast, as was Lindsey Hunter. it was a pretty strong team, nothing special, but definitely not TERRIBLE

He was too slow at that point and he wasn't even shooting well. Theo was like half a Birdman, and their starting PG, who shot 40%, averaged 1.9 apg. Their bench was Michael Curry (terrible), Grant Long (god awful) and Aaron Mckie (decent for one season.) So I'm pretty sure you never watched them because it was the Grant Hill show and nothing else.
