BG and CV? How the hell are you going to get a half court offense and lock down dfense team built around that? They are both offensive juggernauts who can flat out score.

They reminded us in ways of the 80s/90s Badboys. They were tough, hardnosed players who were unwanted on other teams but found a home and thrived with us. There was no 30 point threat, but players who understood their role and were able to play off each other with no ego. At their best, they were a well-oiled machine, a real team that played like they knew each other for years. And they had that great "let's go to work" attitude. That was the Piston identity. That was DEEETROIIIIIT BAAAASKETBAAAAALLL. We weren't Flashy Kobe and the Lakers. We weren't one superstar and some other pieces. We weren't the always-favored Spurs. We weren't the Seven Seconds or Less. We weren't going to hang 100 on you, but we'll keep you under 80. And yeah, eventually they'd get old. And yeah, they underachieved in the playoffs three straight years. And yeah, it would be harder and harder to compete with LeBron and Dwight and all the new cats. But back in their heads, I think most Detroit fans accepted that. They wanted to watch this core until its end. The idea was that as the core got old, one by one we'd replace them with a Stuckey, a Maxiell, an Amir, under the nurturing of the vets and the coaching staff. We all hoped that the players would change, but the identity, that Detroit Pistons team color, would remain the same. And Ben Gordon? I know Ben Gordon. Ben Gordon is not a Badboy2000 kind of player. Charlie V? I know Charlie V. Yeah he can step into the Sheed role, but he's no Sheed. Above all, lots of fans are worried about losing that identity.

http://www.hulu.com/watch/79440/gunnin-for-that-1-spot was a pretty entertaining watch. I know honesttea will like it since it combines two of his favorites in one; Kevin Love and Rucker Park.

Except loading it through VPN = mad buffering =( Maybe I'll just look for it in the dark alleys of the internet. I've actually been to the real Rucker, that was fun. Kevin wasn't there though when I went =( And yeah, 55 million for 5 years of Ben Gordon = 5 years of mediocrity

Idiot I generally agree with you. However, this is an interesting move and it may not be as bad as it seems. Grizz clearly had a need @ PF and since no premier FAs want to go to memphis anyway, the loss of cap space on Randolph is a minor opportunity cost since they got him basically for nothing. Randolph is well regarded as a poor team player and an even poorer defender. There is no denying his offensive abilities though. He has always been an amazing scorer with a combo of size and touch that has rarely been seen. And if there were ever a situation where randolph's defensive liabilities are minimized, it is with a premier defensive center that excels @ weakside help. Lot of people have questioned Thabeet but I believe that he will mature into that type of premier defender. Considering that Thabeet has zero offensive game and you need at least one post up option to have a balanced offense, they have the potential to be the perfect combination where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Again, this is a huge question mark here and it is still probable that the grizz will still suck big time. But, if somehow this team can gel and play together well, there is some potential here. I actually like this trade for the grizz since they were going to suck anyway, might as well take a shot on a talented player that fills a weakness and hope that everyone can mesh.

On the other hand, if somehow the coach can find a way to make this team work together and gel, randolph will provide a post scoring option that they need badly.
