I can't wait for this one to come out.
haha actually it is one of the worst solo FPS i have ever played.
Auto heal respawn vilains scripts !!!!!!!!!!!!!! tiny maps.
Flashpoint, Dx, IGI > CoD4 solo even if they are 8 years older.
How is the scripting in cod4 a bad thing? You get to jump onto helicopters and all kinds of awesome stuff. The call of duty series has always been heavily scripted and this was always one of the things that made it great.
The maps were small but this was partly to keep going back and forth from all kinds of awesome scenery and gameplay. The auto respawn was also alright with me, because you can't just camp and turkey shoot like most fps games, the ai is bound to suck anyway and this made it really fun and challenging for me on the hardest difficulty.
The auto heal is my favorite thing ever by the way lol, fuck having to look around for health packs I HATE that bullshit.
I can't wait for this one, looks like it will be as good as #4.
CoD4's single player was amazing and epic. The scripted scenes are awesome, but it gets boring when you play it more than once. The multiplayer is way better than the past CoD games with its randomness and it was almost as random as CS:S. This game has a more James Bond/Secret Agent approach than being a private or regular soldier in a war. One of the things I hate about CoD games is that you never get to interact with any of your teammates in the single player, but at least the single player's missions makes up for it.

I think they are trying to move away from the CoD name since it's been milked so hard by Activision. I wouldn't be surprised if Treyarch kept making CoD games based on IW's tech while IW makes Modern Warfare games.
This game will be pretty fun. Scripting is absolutely necessary for an exciting singleplayer experience, I don't understand people raging against it when there has been no proven alternative that makes for a fun game. Scripting in itself doesn't really destroy replayability either, just because events are being scripted doesn't mean there can only be one way of going about them, though it would create more work for the developers and usually replayability comes in the way of achievements or difficulty settings.
There are things I hate about CoD4 though . The grenade spam, the prevalence of hardcore servers when the regular mode requires a lot more fps skill
good call. Bushmaster ACR with heartbeat sensor, FAMAS is confirmed. Soap sounds epic. your name's roach. P90. And the GLOCK 18! I knew it! Oh and the icepicks as well, can't wait to use those.

Spend more time to get good IA algorithms and larger non linear maps ?

Along with the Half Life games, and Portal, COD4's single player is pretty much the best solo FPS experience available. I truly felt injected into that war zone. Too bad it was so short.
Games like Crysis/Farcry series are certainly very entertaining for their level of freedom, but along with that comes a lack of immersion IMO.
Guess it depends what you look for!
Edit: the auto heal is pretty much standard these days, and I dont think it's any better or worse than having to find health packs... running around with 30 health looking for a health pack can be fun at times, others it's just a PITA.
I was worried this was going to come out at the same time as Starcraft 2. Haha, so much for that concern!
If MW2 has air strikes again, I hope they're balanced for larger servers. It really seemed like they were designed for xbox360 12 man servers in cod4, which made them completely ridiculous in 24+ man PC servers. Huge rewards for getting kill streaks made most cod4 games very one-sided.
This should be fun to tide me over until Starcraft 2 and FFXIV (14). Though, BF:BC 2 is shaping up to be freaking amazing. I love, love, love the destructible terrain feature of BF:BC.
For the FPS lovers of the forum let me know what you guys think (BF really caters to the more.... 'realistic war setting' players based on its synergy between Armor, Infantry, and Airforces)
Can't wait for BF:BC 2, Starcraft 2, and FFXIV. Next year is shaping up to be epic.
OMG, epic games coming out. Bad Company 2 is comming out in a month and a half!! and it will have a pc version (pee myself) than MW2, I don't even need SC2 now till next year!

16 gig install baby LOL.
wow that's pretty insane considering it's gonna be available through steam. looking forward to this, gonna grab it for ps3 since my computer barely runs cod4.
