heelllooo, its me again asking for some help lolol, so i was wondering if anyone knows how to silent walk, or russian walk or crouch walk or whatever the fuck its called.
i know theres a few ways to do it example: (bind mousewheel +duck OR tap crouch) but, i don't really like those ways and some people are saying the bind mousewheel is illegal in tournaments, so i was wondering how the correct and legit ways pro players do it.

tap crouch twice while moving to any directions. It takes a lot of practice just to get use to mouse wheel are for the noobs!

lol i use mousewheel haha

you bind jump to one mouse wheel and the other to crouch. you hit control + mouse up over and over. the legit way is having to hit the control button consecutively. without using the mousewheel.but in some places its totally illegal "CAL" (CEVO i believe) ??

You tap crouch. You can vary speed/noise depending on how rapidly you do it.
When you tap crouch and let yourself pop back up, you actually lift off the ground (you can observe this by standing behind a lot of boxes and being able to peek up over it). To move mostly silently you tap it once to lift into the air while moving, and then hold crouch again for a little bit longer to maximize time spent in the air (so you are actually not running, just flying forward for most of the time, which is why you don't make as much noise). Then you repeat.
You don't need to bind mwheel to do it, and this is mostly not allowed. There is no mouse movement involved in crouch running, just for steering as normal.

Listen to this dude. And to the swede telling you to listen to this dude.
First tap short, second longer while gliding through the air... and repeat.
Takes lots of practice to be able to do this naturally. It's alot like learning hotkey patterns/other types of multitasking in broodwar.

ummm when i do the thingy your telling me to do the quote above" uuh, it looks like the "bind mousewheel +duck" way. unless im doing it wrong. i don't want to have that big jump or hop or w/e, whenever i spectate people they do mini hops and shit lol

When I was a noob and played CS I just used a bind to my mouse wheel haha, some would call it cheating

They are doing it more rapidly. This is the only way that it is done, I assure you. If you do it long, you make thumping noises as you hit the ground, if you do it short you either have to go pretty slowly or run the risk of making a footstep.
|
so if i use the crouch thing, and i tap it and it makes a big thumping noise, means im doing it wrong ? LOL
|
No it doesn't... you can't crouch run without making any noise unless you do it the extent of moving at about the speed of walking.

this statement is misleading. i think what he meant to say is that crouchrunning is not completely silent, even if you do it right you will still make some noise but you will move just as quickly as running without being nearly as loud

One of the latest updates made crouch hopping nosier so in the end it doesn't really matter because everyone got to use to it, or does it.

crouch hopping has ruined the game completely and is why 1.6 competitive died. Every kid was running around bobbing his head like a fag and you couldnt hit shit. That and the ads valve put in the game.

Every kid was running around bobbing his head like a fag and you couldnt hit shit. That and the ads valve put in the game. Incorrect. While it was banned in Usa, it was accepted worldwide and allowed in tournaments, it basically sped up the action and ruined nothing for nobody. Usa started playing source with cgs appearance, that's the only thing that reduced amount of players and it was only in one country, so not really noticeable. Ads didn't matter in any way.
What did matter is the last protocol change not too long ago. Since after all these years source couldn't touch 1.6 in popularity, success, etc, they decided to make the malicious patch. It took down 1.6 worldwide completely for weeks if i remember correctly with bugs, unability to download the shitty patch and to find a good server on new protocol. In the end this cut amount of players exactly in half according to statistics websites, that's a lot of players. Source did gain nothing with that and with cgs bankruptcy became irrelevant, it still has much less players than 1.6. That seriously made me hate Valve so much.

You don't even want to use this unless you are peaking corners, it's a really horrible habit to get into and you will find yourself using it in situations that don't require it.
