Beam NM without tachs. It makes no sense. I look at my NM fit, then look at that one, and literally burst into tears at what eve's become. An eve when players can plex ships like NM's and loose them in comical fashion. Run mine through a few hundred incursions still havent popped mine.

So I was out doing incursions tonight, when we took a break to reorganize fleet, and warped to a planet. While waiting around at the planet, i saw that we had an orca in fleet.

The orca was set up for fleet use. Its corp hangar and SMA were open. The pilot was afk.

I am michael harari, so i think its pretty obvious what happened.

Loved Day9's tweet. I read the entire story and tweeted him back. I wonder if he used to play eve/still does. Having done some corp theft/scams myself and have earned 5-6bil from them passively (while running the market) and 2-3bil actively (joining corp, not planned but ended up being a theif) I thoroughly enjoyed reading that story. To me it was part of the game. I'm a person who usually thinks of games as "more then games", and remember getting scammed a very long time ago in a game called Graal Online; it corrupted me forever I dont lose a moment of sleep scamming someone in game but I would not have scammed someone I was familiar with, like the individual who he had taken a loan from. I feel he went too far but I guess I just have expanded my moral obligations over time from that fateful day as a young Phayze 10 years ago. Was a very thorough representation of his thoughts, I really understood how he felt when he did not want to send his friend the money, or when he straight up quit after he deleted his character. I got a similar jump start in eve when i found the meta 4 mining laser upgrade a week into my playtime, sold it for a bil. Had nothing to do as I could only fly a cruiser (found it while flying a destroyer in a 0.7 system from some guristas rats in caldari space). I had nothing to do with it. I didnt play for much longer but came back later.

Pretty sure Day9 does not play EVE....he posted a story about EVE, said it was his(a) favorite, but said nothing about actually playing the game himself.

The problem is, that story is really damn obscure --- From SA forums 7 years ago. I feel that it's odd that Day9 would post a eve related story the day it's reposted on a blog unless he played the game and read it prior to the upload date; being one of his favorites makes it sound past tense like he had enjoyed it previously. One can hope. irregardless though the article is very well written, and as we all know Day9 has a well rounded vocabulary so that may be why he likes it if he has not touched the game prior to this blog.

Just a hulk, which I had to split with a guy who could actually fly it. The corp hangar was empty, and the SMA had only a hulk and retriever.

Don't you risk getting banned from all future organised Incursions by doing that? Half a hulk doesn't seem like very much compared to the risk.

Even if it is representive of old EVE where a million isk = a billion isk today with other differences (warp to 15 instead of warp to 0 on everything), it is still an amazingly well written and engaging story that anyone can understand without playing EVE. My gut feeling is that Day9 does not play EVE.

Hi, i bought the game on steam yesterday and i'm interested in joining the corp. I heard you can't get 51 days with a friend invite + the key because it was abused, is it true?

If it is, should i use the 14 days trial or how?

No, it was risk free since I didnt actually take the hulk. I reached out in a channel of like-minded individuals asking who was near me that could fly a hulk. One person said he could log on his alt. He logged on, then got a fleet invite. After the fleet went to the next site, leaving the orca in space, he warped to the orca, took the hulk, and went on.

That Vagabond never asked for this. Although it does prove that if you manage to get a scram on a vagabond to keep it from moving, it basically dies to anything....including Tier 1 industrial ship gangs.

@ Maur: The steam key can only be used to create a new account, not to make an existing account last longer. This means if you have bought the game fom steam, you cannot use the buddy invite+plex trick to get a 'free' 51 days. Since the only ways to start an account are:

1. Buy the game from steam
-or-
2. Get a free trial account.

The only ways to extend gametime of an active account (once that account has been created) are:

1. Acquire and use a PLEX (Pilots Lisence EXtension) ingame (using in game currency)
-or-
2. Pay for the account with real money

Someone should edit the OP with this info so ppl can be more aware of this.

Ok thanks, i'll use a trial account and upgrade it with the key.

How long would it take to buy a plex assuming i could salvage wrecks from other corps member missioning? and playing alone? i know they cost 400millions but i have no idea of how much you can make from salvaging or doing 4s and getting to do them.

Also theres some good info in the spoilered op that isn't on the "new" one.

No, there's not. It was removed from the new op for a reason. Also I have no idea what the key you're upgrading with is.
