Gallente was the FOTM back in '08 after CCP decided to "fix" ECM so that not every capsuleer and their dog would cram multispecs onto spare midslots, leading to sensor damps becoming the new ECM for a while. Then the web nerf/scram buff came and, combined with the overall ship hp buff, spelled the end of Gallente and solo pvp as a whole.

Seriously though a properly fit battle helios or buzzard is going to give most frigates trouble unless you are able to literally start on 0 with everything heated. The question wasn't really if it's a 1v1 fit, the intention was if it's any good in reality and if I will be able to kill something without having to get a 10mil+ frig like all those hookbills, t2 frigs or whatevs.

The full t2 solo rifter should be able to take on most basic frigates, which makes it so great. It can even take on some t2 frigs, particularly interceptors, when piloted well.

You can look up Wensley for more information regarding rifters, he wrote an excellent guide about them a while back.

I think that what wasnt mentionned (or not enough to me atleast) is that you really should not fight Helios unless you truely know what youre doing. Due to their 5 mid slots, they usually have a plethora of gay shits stucked there, ranging from tracking disruptors, to ECM, to lots of webs. They are usually just gimmicky ships made to kill people in t1 frigates (and often faction/t2 frigs) that just think to themselves ''oh look, i just decloaked a helios''.

Also, dont want to pick sides in the tofu vs risen debate, but I think we can all agree that nergalion is not the smartest pilot in eve. (Of course saying that hes an idiot goes a bit far...but ya know)

edit : shield management 5 has got to be one of the gayest skill to train t.t (its really not but it annoys me)

Hey so my trial account just joined the corporation...but I looked into it and managed to reactivate an old account of mine close to 2 years old. So many skill points to spend :D

So if anyone is around to recruit my name is "Klainger".

I'm a gallente drone guy, a bunch of my drone skills are level 5...dunno if drones are helpful at all in the pirating you guys do, and I'm still a nublet since I only used to mission (and its been almost 2 years!). I'm trying to figure out how to spend all the skill points I have from before, wanna know if I should commit to upgrading from a myrmidon to a dominix and focus on more drone skills, should get a bunch of electronic warfare type skills (i have none pretty much), or if I should be getting myself the proper skills to fly a rifter (which, I suppose,w ould include electronic warfare skills). Or something else?

karah suggested a 1v1 merlin, guess I'll try that since I already got rapid Launch V and warhead IV. At least those 2 t2 rocket slots will improve a bit based on my skills, the blasters obviously not :D
Sucks to only have 4 mids... want medium shield extender + booster

But yeah, caldari frigs suck except for griffin, but nobody will fight me if I show up in a griffin. Will do a little eft and have a look if a merlin is viable

Merlins are monstrous, chat me up in-game and I can show you some super secret fits and talk tactics. You can pull off the active setup you want, you don't need the extender.

€: mmmh, if I go for booster instead of mse I'd have lots of spare grid and no need for aux core. Could totally add a bulkhead for teh lulz
