Once he dies, and the corp he's running with sees the fit I recommended, he'll never be allowed to fly with them again which means he'll never get blown up again. If that's not saving isk, I don't know what is.

Is an Imperial Navy Slicer best for speed tanking, passive tanking, or active tanking?
edit - nvm just realized that the comet is pretty much superior in every way Well, if you're flying PvP in either frigate, if you get hit, no amount of passive or active tanking is going to save you. I mean, you're a frigate. Go with speed tanking. Yeah but what if your in low sec going up against another frigate or interceptor?
those end up being close range vs close range slugfests. You should only go as fast as your guns track. An armor plated tyrann is probably your best bet there..followed by plate law.... Jaguars kill everything frig level if they atch you...but yea.

And I forget, does a warp disruptor turn off MWDs?
|
no it doesnt. a warp scrambler turns off mwds.

No warp scramblers do (9k+ 20% range). Warp disruptors have a 24km +20% range, but don't turn off MWDs.
With regards to the discussion abouts comets / slicers, both Slicers and Comets are viable solo frigs, although they fly very differently. All the effective Slicer fits I've seen have been MWD Disruptor fits that kite with Scorch. Most of the Comets I have seen are Dual Prop'd brawlers. I've been messing around with Comets on Sisi and they seem to do very well solo. There dps is quite high (250+) for a frig and with faction frig speed they are tough to kite. Pretty much any frig that get scram'd by a Comet that doesn't start with a D and end with an L is going to die.
That being said, I think most Slicer vs. Comet fights would be won by a compotent Slicer pilot (not at my main computer so I can't check EFT for relative speed and agility comparisons).
As Vil said, undocking in a frig, especially a gallente one, without a Damage Control is suicide.
I think I mentioned it in a previous post, but if you are looking for good fits, check the losses section of Genos Occidere's killboard. Many good pilots (El'Tar, Count MonteCarlo, Prom, Suitonia) all fly for them.

K thx. Also, between a kiting slicer and a kiting harpy, which one is better for general purpose combat?
|
a non-kiting ishkur. but if youre hellbent on one of those two, use the slicer.

hahaha just kidding, I haven't read any of them and I'm still rich. But that's because I'm a cheater. You should read them.
EDIT: I'm reading them right now and they're really really helpful O_O. If you all read them, at the very least I'll be answering a lot fewer questions in the SCBW channel.

In other news, someone asked me to send back a group of items that was underpriced by about 10m isk, saying it was "meant to be a private contract." I sent him the Chimera contract to cheer him up.

Wait what? You didn't keep it :S? And here I was thinking that there weren't nice people in EVE... If it had been me, I'd milk some tears from this someone
Most money I ever made from trading was when a former alliance of mine lost their space in 0.0, and I sold all my stuff over there with a fair amount of overpricing.

No, I mean, I showed him a link to the contract so that he could see that there are people who know how to use contracts even worse then he does.
