I'm certainly not the most knowledgeable person in the EVE world, and I don't particularly need the free months (I'll take them, but if people are strapped for ISK since low-sec move) but if we really are "overbooked" so to speak with new guys, I can take a couple. Also because of my work my play schedule is pretty randomized. | ||

The cost wasn't an issue, being able to kill a battleship in one reload was. I had much worse skills back then, so killing higher bounty battleships often took more than one reload. Actually, the tipping point was a mission battleship with a 2-3m bounty that took 3000 missiles to kill. Yes, 3 thousand missiles. | ||

Yeah, compare my RL luck... A few years back, in one month I: hit a deer in rush hour traffic downtown, wrecking my car, got a flat tire from a thumb tack, got my car towed from my own apartment complex because I didn't get notified about the new parking stickers, got in another wreck at 2 miles an hour, had the cop from that accident get called off to a fire and forget to give me my drivers license back, got my apartment robbed twice. Most of my friends declared me too unlucky to die. Later on, right before being diagnosed with Crohn's disease and getting medically discharged from the Army for it (very debilitating) the girl I had just started dating, and known for only a couple of months turned out to be the kind of person who took care of me like my own mother would have, works in IT, loves to build PCs, understands my hardware/gaming addictions, and makes a great mother for my son. It balances out in the end. | ||

Begin story. I was bored so I sat with my cyclone on the highsec gate at 10km. I knew I had one or two rifters on standby, Karah in a drake and Lee in a falcon if I needed him. A few minutes go by. Suddenly a falcon and a broadsword on dscan. The neutral falcon appears and jumps through into highsec, so I ignore him. Then the broadsword appears 100km off, and is dame death, known mach-loser and a pirate. We both start burning at each other and he gets the point on me. I am scram fit and am not as fast as the broadsword so I am unable to get close to him. I start switching direction hoping he'll eventually screw up and ram me, allowing me to get the scram. This works, so I start calling for warp ins. In the end, we have a drake, two rifters, a cyclone and a falcon jamming him while scrambled about 80km off the gate. Being a broadsword, he takes forever to go down. Suddenly the neutral falcon from earlier jumps in and starts trying to jam us, successfully jamming everyone but a rifter and me (ONE falcon jamming 4 ships, sup). I order the jammed rifter to burn down the falcon, hoping to chase him off the field, or possibly net us another kill. The next cycle comes and the falcon has jammed every single one of us. Broadsword warps out at 20% shields, falcon warps out 2 seconds later. So we're sad and everyone goes to dock and do their own thing, and I go back and sit my cyclone again at the gelf gate. A minute goes by and suddenly a mach appears on dscan. I shout out on TS as I usually do for everyone to mobilise and get ready to warp onto me. The mach arrives 20km from me and starts RAPING my cyclone. I'm desperately trying to burn around him as he's between me and everything I can possibly warp to, yet he's neuting away my cap and is pointing me from 35km out. As I'm spamming the warp button the rifters shout that they're in warp and about to land. I'm in armor...structure...suddenly, warp. 8% structure, npnp. The two rifters land and start orbiting at 500m desperately trying to hold point for the next big ship to arrive. Unfortunately, Karah has reshipped into a tengu without a point and so the rifters are the only things preventing the mach from warping out. We have a falcon on the field as well but I ask him not to decloak before their falcon decloaks, to preventing them from winning the jam battle. Sure enough, their falcon decloaks seconds later, prompting Lee to decloak himself and jam the other falcon. The mach's drones are still ripping through our rifters and they are still the only things holding this mach in space while I reship into my pest. Their falcon, unable to do much, warps off. I finally arrive in my pest and get another point. Lee misses one jam cycle on the mach, who takes 2 shots at Lee putting him into armor, and Lee is forced to warp off. So now it's Karah's tengu, my pest and one rifter against this one mach. He is slowly going down but it is still taking very long. He is no longer jammed and is shooting me, quickly taking me down through my overheated invulns. My shields start flying down but I am forced to stay on the field because I am the only one holding point any more. Karah and I are both overheating and he hits structure...I burn out my guns...Karah + my drones are the only things doing dps...I hit structure... He pops. Finally. We're all pretty fucking happy at this point, even when we see we've been absolutely blueballed by the drops. Karah also tells us he's been using shitty missiles on the mach, fucking Karah.
