dont make noise cause the alliance has a 10mil+ sp recruitment policy, so we're accepting newbie tl members kinda covertly.

We own a nice pocket of space in scalding pass with KZF- in it's center, which we "inherited" after minor threat fail cascaded. Rats are good, mining is decent and the russians are always fun to kill. good times in general.

Got a couple of friends that are hooked beyond all hope. I just got this feeling about this game... that if I start... Well, lets just say I know myself well enough to avoid this one for my own good :-) I know the guy that won this ebay auction :-), any Eve expert can tell me if it was really worth that much real life dough?

Then, almost 1000€ ... Well, I think if you have the money and want a very advanced character, I think it's worth it.

Well, I think if you have the money and want a very advanced character, I think it's worth it. What I was wondering is, how long it takes to make such a character? Or is the right question maybe.. if one is able it? I mean, does it take actual intelligence and skill to create such a char in Eve, or is it only a matter of time, and anyone could make such a char given.. say a year of on-off playing? I run a fairly successful internet cafe, and about 6 months ago I bought 3 very high spec computers, specifically to run a couple of games for some regular gaming customers. One of my regulars is an Eve player and I let him use it although Eve doesn't really need 6gig mem, but he basically owns the chair on one of the 3 comps, I might as well type out a sign saying "X's office" because he's there 18/24 hours 6/7 days a week, and he brings his own pillow with him, among other things (coffee mug holder that attaches to the screen, etc...) :-) Claims to actually 'work' Eve, as in, pay his rent and such, break even most weeks, sometimes lose a bit or make a little extra buck a month. I have no idea how it works but I believe him, since he lives on his own and obviously doesn't have a job :-) Anyway, he won that ebay auction, and was jumping up and down afterwards, wouldn't relax for an hour. But it still looks really strange to me, a 1000$ char. I remember buying and selling Ultima-Online related things on eBay back at the day, but it never topped a couple of hundred at most.

It's likely that he's going to sell that character for in-game money and somehow launder that money back into cash for a profit.

2-3 years ? I think. No it doesn't really take skill to get a char like that, you just set the skills to train and go do something. But if you have that many SPs, it usually means you played a lot (unless you precisely ONLY have that account to get the SPs up, to sell it eventually), so that you have at least some good knowledge of the game. But yeah, from what I understand, you can "work" EVE. Competent traders can make hundreds of millions ISKs (if not billions) per day. And then they probably sell those ISKs, or buy PLEXs that they resell, or something ... Also, since they have that much money ingame, they can easily get a lot more accounts, as you can buy the play time with ISKs, so if they know how to use them, they can get even more ISKs, I guess ...

In my latest random burst of activity, yours truly was on the ball and saw a hostile dreadnought sitting afk on a station after their cap fleet rolled through and reinforced a tower. Got the tackle, got the bump, got the kill. https://www.pandemic-legion.com/killboard/view_kill.php?id=231241
