But, but, Ghost in the Shell: Arise might be an affront to the entire series and it must be stopped. And I mean stopped by me saying what's wrong with it for 20 minutes then doing nothing constructive afterwards | ||

Best part of ghost were Stand Alone Complex, the 2ng Gig, and possibly the Solid State Society. Everything else is shit. First movie is ok... But anything beyond that is just beh. Still think that Stand Alone Complex is far and away the best GITS there is, bar none | ||

I mean I dont really have anything against them in theory, but their scenes are all cringe worthy, and the ending scene alone made me nauseous. A lot of people like to write off stuff like this as quirky japanese culture stuff but honestly its because Japanese anime directors have such huge issues with understanding basic 101 stuff like tone. A little comedic relief can go a long way in dreadfully serious overly violent tones but those scenes, I just want to slap someone. Edit: I will admit the original movie hasn't aged particularly well but it did at least have some interesting and refreshing ideas on the genre at the time. | ||

If you liken this to say..... the borg- you actually have quite a bit in common to the tachicoma. here again you have a hive mind structure, yet there are still individuals within this system. The borg are certainly less enthusiastic, and have far less individal tendencies than their tachicoma counterparts- But i am sure that you can see the parallels. GITS explores this idea further- and for that I think that they are a very important part of the overall show, and adds yet another complexity to a great fantastical world that was created in the GITS universe. | ||
