Basically the CFC holds half of the claimable space in eve, 100's of systems (over 1000?). They have systematically and opportunistically taken regions over the last 3 years. They basically own the entire left side of the game. PL accidentally let a system payment lapse, meaning it became claimable. So the CFC + RUS went all in to take this system, which is a huge help. PL loses the station in that system that they are staging their war out of. It would basically be the equivalent of Hitler taking over England before the US and allies could execute D Day.
