Although I don't feel anything surreal about it, I thought it was pretty fun walking around, though the world is large and I get lost easily >_<
Here is an image of the game:

So right now, I'm wondering if there are other free fan-made games that have been really popular in the past? Preferably games that are rpg or have a good storyline.
I don't mind other genre games so long as they are good from your experience or have been popular; but I am now looking for mugens or flash games (unless it is an rpg flash game that lets you save and is relatively short).
For example, I'm sure some of you have played fan-made games from RPG maker 200X, and I hope someone can recommend me one of those.
EDIT: From the thead "Top PC Games", I'm looking for games like these, but preferably with an asian background.

IMHO all of those PC RPGs where you only control 1 character directly can get pretty shallow and repetitive. If you must, the best are Icewind Dale 1-2 (more combat-oriented, few sidequests from main objective, you create your entire party) and Baldur's Gate 1-2 (many many sidequests to discover if you want, more NPC interaction, you find party members to join your team, all-in-all more fleshed out than IWD, etc.)
I'm not really a fan of FPS or other RTS, which are the two genres that you have a PC for, so there's not much else from me. I'll second freelander's GGXX#R, Monster, and Akatsuki Blitzkampf, which are by far and large among the more respected PC fighters out there. There's also Melty Blood: Act Cadenza and the two Touhou spinoff fighters but the above three are probably better.
If you're up for downloading some quality freeware games that play very nicely, some suggestions:
Cave Story: sidescrolling action shooter with some RPG elements, comparable in scope to GBA Metroids or Castlevanias or whatnot, except maybe better
Within a Deep Forest: nice platformer with some interesting puzzles and mechanics where you just control a ball that moves around, acquire different balls with different abilities, etc., nice environments
Operator Status (OS): the precursor to the above, is more difficult and has a really fun magnetism mechanic
rRootage: very good simplistic 2D shooter for practicing bullet hell patterns; has 5 bosses each stage, 4 stages per level, 10 levels (increasing difficulty) per mode, and 4 modes in the game. That's a lot of shmupping. You'll definitely be challenged by some level of stages.
Iwanaga: very good run-and-gun shooter. It has really solid game mechanics. Also check out Vacant Ark on that page for a pretty unique, good, 2D shooter. Don't be fooled by the graphics or anything else, as these games have gameplay that stands up to all commercial games out there.
Kaiten Patissier and sequel Ura Kaiten Patissier: surprisingly simple yet good puzzle games. In this game to move around you can push on walls to flip the world 90 degrees. So there's some interesting solutions for getting around to your objective using this system. IIRC 50 stages per game.
