Preseason is meaningless. =\
On a different note, Week 2 will be extremely exciting. I can't wait for Sunday.

Yo, just to illustrate how far ahead the NFC East is of the rest of the NFL, I ranked the conferences by power rank. That is, I added the power ranking of each team from si.com and espn.com power rankings and averaged them.
Lower is better:
1. NFC East - 8.375 2. AFC East - 13.50 3. AFC South - 15.375 4. NFC South - 15.75 5. AFC North - 16.25 6. NFC North - 16.25 7. AFC West - 20.875 8. NFC West - 25.625

preseason is not meaningless it lets you practice your starting offense against another starting defense granted your not showing your full book but there are a lot of reasons on why you should win preseason games and carry that momentum over..... hell the giants went into the playoffs with a shit ton of momentum and looked what happened
all I'm saying is from watching what I did in the preseason we went 2-2 we played two really nice teams in greenbay and dallas... and walked all over their starters.....
plus there were joint practices with the cowboys so the two teams knew each other even better ~~
thats about all I got on that
Marshall > Adam Jones lol
Eddie Royal > Hall

How can you even compare the momentum from the regular season to momentum from the preseason? Each year, the preseason is more of a joke as more and more star players see less and less time on the field. Starters are guaranteed to be on the team and most don't put 100%.
|
I dont think you realize how important it is to the 2nd and third string players... and them having momentum helps out special teams it does so much
there are exceptions to this on how the colts can go 0-4 and the pats can go 0-4 and do just fine......
but that just goes to show they aren't quite as deep as a few other teams......
majority of the time if a team goes 4-0 they finish above .500 now do I think they need to cut the preseason games to 2? yes.... but its still a nice way to gauge your starters in the first half.. and all I'm saying is Denver dominated greenbay and dallas in the first half much like what they did to oakland.

I really don't know why everyone dislikes Tom Brady.
People forget that he himself was an underdog story, very late draft pick, backup to Drew Bledsoe, would anyone believe that he would become what he is now?
I can't think of any scandals that involved Brady, or any acts which affect his character negatively. (correct me if I am wrong)
He even took a pay cut so the Pats could get Moss. I've never heard of another star player being less greedy. [source]

I definitely laughed when I heard the Rams comment. It's true. The Jessica Simpson comment irritated me, but I can't stand her... she's so stupid. I also HATE it when people refer to the team they like as "we". Apparently (judging by Mark Schlereth's [SP]) comments, the players don't like it either. On NFL Live today the first thing he said was "We? Who is we?" Then I think he went into how she doesn't get payed by Jerry Jones so she shouldn't refer to herself as part of the team.
All those things aside, I think it will be a good game this Monday. Romo is historically bad against the Eagles.
And Kimmel, you're fighting a losing argument. There are two things that preseason is good for 1) to see who needs to be cut (this doesn't affect starters), and 2) to get some rhythm/timing back. Hell, most people discount week 1 because starters don't play enough preseason games. Preseason is an absolutely worthless indicator of a team's skill level. Although I happen to like the Broncos chances overall against any teams passing game, I'm still questioning their ability to stop the run. They allowed 4.7yds/att last week, and that's about what they were giving up last year. Granted, that is distorted by the 48 or 54 yard, something like that, run that Fargas had. They did exactly what they did last year. They had a bunch of stops for one or two yards, or maybe less, but then they broke down and gave up a few huge runs. All they need to avoid is the mental mistakes that are allowing huge running plays and they'll be fine. I happen to think this D-coordinator is better than Bates, so I think they will get everything on track. Plus Williams moved back to weak side, where he belongs, and they added Boss Bailey, and two big DT's.

That doesn't change that it's seen as a negative.

But the Brady hate started way before that, and there are plenty of other beloved sports figures who have kids with other people.

And no one is disagreeing with that point. The response was only intended for that one line, I think.
Also, I'm pretty sure Favre suggested that he would restructure his contract to get Moss in GB before he went to NE. I THINK he did; I'm not 100% sure.

Some people just hate winners, simple as that.
|
I think the hate really has to do with the fact that Brady is so smug... both in his choice of facial expression but also what he says (although I'm not sure how much of that has to do with his coach's filter on all outgoing team statements)

i dislike the patriots because they beat my team i think tom brady is extremely boring but i acknowledge his prowess as a football player

I have much less respect for Tennessee fans after hearing about that, not for Vince Young. Way to alienate your quarterback, instead of supporting him. He put himself in the spotlight so that he would one day be on the biggest stage his sport offers, and now he's crying because he can't handle the pressure he asked for? There's nothing to feel sorry for. He was brought in, and paid millions of dollars to throw the football and make exciting plays. He failed to do that last week. Kerry Collins came in and did a better job. That's like saying you would have had less respect for Chargers fans when they booed Ryan Leaf. Vince Young need to appease the fans, the fans don't need to appease him. He was drafted third overall three years ago to win games for the team, and bring them back to the Super Bowl. "Since 2006, no NFL quarterback with at least 500 attempts has a lower passer rating than Vince Young." That means, by any measurable statistic, Vince Young is the WORST QB in the league. No, that means hes most likely the worst passing QB in the league. There's a huge difference, because Young is a run/pass QB, so you can't measure him solely by passer rating.
And I agree, VY needs to suck it up, you're a professional athlete you should be able to take criticism.
