What do you do when making a map to account for making triggers that make the game crash for no apparent reason? I tried looking for a program that can help you identify problem triggers but the program I was using did not work so well. I've come a long way in making a good map, but the crashing bugs are basically booting people from the game, and it's really lame. How does the Dota makers or other people do this? Do they use some types of programs to help them make triggers? Are there some basic good rules about making triggers that I'm probably not following? I need hopefully some trigger making guidelines and/or some good program to fix this game crashing by helping me get my triggers lined up and bug free. So, how would you usually go about tackling this problem, anyone who makes some high quality map without bugs, or does anyone here know someone who does?
edit: well, i guess i should say the errors say the memory cannot be read but i think everyone knows that. at any rate it's not apparent why the triggers are overloading the game memory or whatever it's doing to get those errors and like i said, i'm looking for a solution...anyone got anything?

also, i have another problem, probably an easier one. how do i get the map to check for who has the highest something and then pick that person and say he's the number one something and then check for the second highest and so on?
i've seen other maps do it. like showing who finished on top and all that.
so far my game end is really rather boring and i don't understand how to change various things about it. so i wanted to add some things like singling out the top player and displaying him as the champion.
one way that would be nice and easy is to have it count how many of a certain item his hero has. that's where you keep track of the points. if there's another place i can put the points i'm all for it. i'm going to see if i can't just put it in the post game scoreboard, but although that could work, i'd rather have something inside the game showing off who is the champion.

I don't really feel like reading all that. You are at the wrong website.
I'm sure you can google search and find a wc3 map making website.

hey paper, do you even know what you're referencing? those links aren't very useful to my situation. CharlieMurphy, if you're not going to read the thread, don't post in it. and move on.
edit: by the way, for your information, i just did another search on google, and guess what? my forum post here is number 9 on 834,000 results for warcraft map making.

hey dcttr66, do you even know what you want from this thread?
DotA is the most popular wc3 map. It has most likely gone through every single problem you have and more throughout its history to become a "high quality map." They have forums that deal with customization, triggers, and programming, and people there have extensive knowledge on the inner workings of the world editor.
You want to fix your shitty wc3 map.
Clearly, they won't be able to help you.

your last two sentences are moronic. former one is cursing me. latter one is sarcastic.
you have no idea what you're talking about. everything they're talking about is about dota. nothing is in there about how to make a map. anyway, i figured it out completely without the help of that site.
Elil, SD_Ryoko, and Jope Jope helped me figure it out with their files.
Jope Jope's wardraft map has tons of variables and he had in his change log information about how he was fixing crashing problems...so i imagined he was running into the same problem i was. it seemed logically possible that variables would fix the problem, but i wasn't certain until i read SD_Ryoko's document about variables. so i put variables into my map, that solved the problem, and while i was doing that I read Elil's website for various tips (mostly the document about custom text) and SD_Ryoko's document from some random website helped alot because it explained the variables with much detail.
anyway the secondary question i posted later is extremely minor and not worth mentioning the solution to. point is, you have to use variables to make a decent map. solution found! question answered. thankyou Jope Jope, SD_Ryoko and Elil.
