Pete If you keep putting it in the OP I'm just going to close the thread and open a new one myself. If you insist on wanting the list somewhere, put it in a post on page 2 or something and link directly to the post in your OP saying "Go here to see the player list" or something. Petey, why are you so unbelievable lately? NO ONE EXCEPT YOU HAS SERIOUSLY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE LOADING TIME IN 550+ PAGES. We literally have played DotA for over 550 pages of this thread (nearly 2 years) after you left our in-house games, and then you come in one day and decide how to run the OP over some trivial 10 kb of data? Nor use the forum index to directly go to the last page? I've edited that OP hundreds of times for almost two years and you just randomly decide to delete a huge portion I've dedicated tons of time to on a whim? At least have some respect and let me edit it. I threw it in the second page. Whatever. I also moved 550 kb of images you didn't bother deleting. Probably not your culprit though I'm sure. 10 > 550. I can't believe you're trying so hard to fix the OP in this thread when there are bigger problems elsewhere.

I think he's being a hardheaded ass myself. Not even kidding, don't fuck with the OP it's part of this threads charm. I rag on paper all the time, but I understood immediately the amount of effort that went into his OP. Learn to use the side bar and use the >. It is way better and there is no ridiculous load time. Even if I go to page 1 there's no ridiculous load time. LEAVE THE OP THE WAY IT IS/WAS ;O

LEAVE THE OP THE WAY IT IS/WAS ;O I do use the side bar. I think you mean learn to use the forum index ![]() The fact remains that the forum index is inferior because you can't see it without going there specifically, whereas I can jump from MiR directly to the DOTA thread if there's been a post, for example. The load time for the player list is something I've reproduced on multiple computers. Maybe it's the browser I'm using, maybe my account is just cursed. Either way, there's more that goes into the time that it takes to load a page than simply downloading the text of it and 10kb of images [which are probably cached anyway]. I can't believe you're trying so hard to fix the OP in this thread when there are bigger problems elsewhere. Unbelievable lately? Have I done something to annoy you other than that, or just that? Your thread is on TL, and I don't even try to moderate it even though you guys have gone through massive spam phases and stuff--I recognize that TL DOTA has generated its own culture, and I try to respect that and leave it alone. The fact remains though that you still are on TL. Just because I or other moderators have not been active in TL DOTA doesn't mean the thread is immune to moderation. If you have a serious problem with my moderation, please take it up with one of the admins (Hot_Bid or something). If he's away or doesn't get back to you for some time I can point you to a different admin if you're not able to differentiate admins/mods (there's a topic somewhere for that but you can't tell just by looking at the name ![]() I did complain in vague terms how it loaded slowly before I edited it, and I didn't destroy any of your content--I notified you that I removed it and sent you the exact content that I removed because it was negatively affecting user experience on the page. If it offended you that I edited your post, then I apologize; my intention was not to give offense, merely to fix an issue on the site. If there are so many other problems on the site to be fixed, then please let me know and I will try to fix them. I'm usually on MSN (feel free to PM me to get it if you want), so if there's someone spamming the site or causing problems I can try to fix it.

And negative user experience? You. are. the. only. one. who. has. ever. seriously. complained. Once you've cached the page (the entire pages 1 and 2 combined are less than 50kb so the player list is much, much smaller), there is no reason why it should load any slower than any other TL page, and it doesn't. Why should it be in the OP? Don't fix what's broken. Tradition. Accessibility. Ease of editing. And what's up with all the deflecting and deriving trivial points from my post? SIGHHH peter

Considering you've PMed me various times over a period of time on the same, inane topic, I think that constitutes 'unbelievable lately'. Let's count the times I PMed you: First I notified you I did it. Second I responded to your response saying how I don't like using the forum index. Third I notified you that I removed your re-add and told you to stop re-adding it. Fourth I decided to tell you about an alternate to just total removal of the player list. (basically an addendum to the third one; I didn't think of suggesting it before hitting send, so I sent this one asap afterwards) And negative user experience? You. are. the. only. one. who. has. ever. seriously. complained. Once you've cached the page (the entire pages 1 and 2 combined are less than 50kb so the player list is much, much smaller), there is no reason why it should load any slower than any other TL page, and it doesn't. So you think I'm lying about this and randomly decided to complain about your post for no reason? Why would I do something like that? Why should it be in the OP? Don't fix what's not broken. Tradition. Accessibility. Ease of editing. It's no harder to edit it when it's on an alternate page. If you are worried people won't notice it's updated, just put something like "Player list last updated 10/17/2009" And what's up with all the deflecting and deriving trivial points from my post? SIGHHH peter Deflecting / deriving trivial points? I attempted to address each part of your post. And the question about the areas of the site that you feel are in need of work was a serious one: if you see these issues, then please tell me or some other staff member so we can work on it. I agree that the load time is not there on FireFox by the way.

No, it's not faster now, and I was wondering why until I scrolled down ![]() It was faster after I initially edited it out, however, yes.
