yeah I really wish dota had a good competitive coverage site. Not like teamliquid, but sorta, stream info, upcoming matches/tournaments/brackets, strategy talk, competitive player podcasts, and livereport / team talk threads. Like TL basically but more focused.

That could work in TL if it had a DotA sub forum.. I could see it happening especially with the soon to be released dotar2. This thread's been constantly active for 4 years now? Maybe if some qualified ppl volunteer to mod it, the admins might allow it.

Won't work well, nobody in business knows how to write or want to write. MYM's been pushing for something like for a long time and apparently nobody wants to do a good job for a consistent basis.

Coverage isn't the same as reports unfortunately.

TL could do it if paper would supply the ryugie-font for all of the graphics.

Joindota can work out if they open it up a bit more. I do enjoy watching tobi now and then, but imagine if Teamliquid's front page was promoting only one caster front and center all the time. It'd be a turnoff to whoever preferred something else.

Like I said before, DotA has no mass appeal personalities. Tobi isn't one, he lacks the knowledge and understanding to be one. Hit0mi could do it, except he's kind of more reserved. Demon should do something, Loda could too except I don't think he's kept up with the game. Maybe Dota 2 will bring people out, but it's not going to easy or rather it's going to be harder than their counterparts in other games.

Demon doesn't like to shoutcast, he'd much rather ring for every team. Haven't seen loda in ages. Having just a mix of pro commentators / analysts / hype casters would be fine. Basically, variety.

I wonder how developed steam will be for dota2. It would be neat to allow individual shoutcasters to host a channel for commentating on a live game or even a replay. Just being able to do that kind of thing without any 3rd party program would be a huge leap.

Tobi needs cocasters who understands the game. In general, I think you need 2 persons to cast DotA games properly, a play-by-play caster catching all the action, and an analysist checking items, creep stats etc.

I do hope joindota will open up when Dota2 is out, and when it leaves beta.
