Is there an easy way to get some idea about wc3? Like a day9 noobie video series or anything like that? Is there even more wc3 to watch?
You should watch Grubbys commentated replays. They're great and he goes into the nitty gritty details of WC3 and the orc race and explaines almost everything.
Also you should play the game! It still plays very well and the campaign is the best Blizzard ever made. And while the graphics may look a bit low-poly und low-res, the animations are incredible and I think all models also have lots of character to them and generally very likable. Players used to name the first units they build in a game because they're so attached to them!
If you want to play multiplayer it's probably somewhat harder nowadays because you'll find lot's of smurfs on the ladder and there are countless of special manuevers and tricks unique to the game which are in part somewhat counter-intuitive. It's a bit like trying to compete on iccup if you're new to Brood War - lot's of learning and persistence needed.
There's no need to be aggressive. The_Red_Viper is taking an interest into WC3, and he hasn't played it before. Not everybody can like the cartoony graphics of WC3. It's quite the jump from SC's graphics too.
Anyway.
As everyone recommended, there's the Grubby commentaries.
On top of that, you can also check the OP. I can no longer edit it sadly, so it isn't 100% relevant anymore, but it has a few links for Twitch and YouTube that are still valid. Lucifer, for example, still streams fairly often. He's crazy though. Plus, there's some explanations in there about the core points of the game and a breakdown of all four races.
I put some effort into that OP! Read it, damn you!
If he had said it like that (e.g. I don't like cartoony graphics), there would have been no problem.
Not that much has changed, except for some foreign streamers being on Twitch from time to time and obviously the arrival of several Korean and Chinese streams (TVInDrA etc). Those are definitely worth it since they cast games quite often (and they don't have that thing which shows HP, Mana and buildings/units being produced which is a plus).
/edit: And there is also WC3CL_TV, casted in German(also without that observer tool).
Edit: Also recalled posting something much more fresh (only 5 years old!) - a different look at upkeep and experience in WC3. Keep in mind that at the time of posting all of those pretty much everyone on this forums was hating on WC3.
He's extremely insightful and also entertaining as a broadcaster. He was kind of similar to Grubby in being a player who won off of intelligence as much as raw micro.
From a historical context, TED is probably the greatest Undead player of all time, and the only Undead player to ever win WCG. He revolutionized multiple matchups to varying degrees. Most notably, he took the totally broken Orc vs Undead matchup and evened it out at least somewhat with his use of Frost Armor. He was also nearly unbeatable in Undead mirror due to his understanding of the matchup.
At the moment there is running the offline Event PGL (without english casting) The Event shows chinese and korean Warcraft Players but also chinese CS 1.6. Dont really know what gets streamed when and where.
For those who are interested in WCA VoDs.B2W statement:
" We recorded almost every game in perfect 1080p60fps at the local computer in Yinchuan. Unfortunatly, WCA officials decided not to give us the harddrive, so we had to upload them to a chinese cloud server.. We're trying to get them as fast as possible.
Thanks to our loyal homeboy Matze, who traveled several hundred kilometers in August to meet us at GamesCom, we got a streamrip. The first few games are being uploaded as we speak.
This will cover the most important games of the tournament, the rest will be uploaded after Christmas.
This is not how we hoped it'll be, but a good compromise. VPN and upload speed in Yinchuan was both horrible, so sorry for being late."
First game is allready on youtube, watch WarchiefRich against Lawliet:
Link to the playlist and all yet uploaded VoDs Please note, that during the Group Stage, the casters had to fight with the tech difficuilties, so some of them are not the complete matches, but only single maps. Also the VoDs seem to be abit rough cutted sometimes.

we asked ESL several times if we shall cast since we were in China anyway (PGL = ESL Asia) but we didnt even get a reply. we would've done it for free and skip christmas :D somehow they seem to hate us.
Thank you all for following WCA and showing interesting in the game! if you want to follow the scene, i advice to use War3Reddit.com (or reddit.com/r/wc3, which is the same).
Several players told us, that Blizzard asked them about necessary balance changes so expect great stuff in 2016
Maybe some people know German and haven't seen the rather interesting news post on readmore.de about the year of Wc3 esports. Click here for the article.
Basically it looks like WCA was cashing out by far most of the prizemoney. 260 tournaments over the whole year with over 240.000 € prizemoney to win. Highest value since 2010.
Oh wow, there's a huge discrepancy between their numbers and esportsearnings.
esportsearnings (http://www.esportsearnings.com/games/158-warcraft-iii/list_events) says 176k usd was paid out this year, ~76% of that being from WCA and WCA qualifiers.
