I really want to try this game out, not going to lie.
edit:
I think the terms micro/macro are just badly trasnfered into RTS gaming. Do they even exist outside of the Starcraft/Blizzard RTS community? I always feel like anytime someone in another RTS forum starts using that term it turns out to be a Starcraft player.
Please check out Age of Conquerors, Age of Mythology/Titans, Age of Empires 3. They're all excellent RTS in their own right, and yes, those players know what macro and micro are.

Happy about the stand alone client. A browser only rts seems a bit ambitious.

I dunno all the RTS games that Incog listed have pretty clear micro/macro components to them. I'd say the StarCraft / AOE type games have pretty clear macro and micro components. I've never been a big fan of CnC.
I'm pretty fucking excited to see the monster that Day9 has wrought :D. So many years of BW experience distilled into a game. It's gonna be great!

no 1v1 Mode for this game.
"At launch, there will almost certainly NOT be a 1v1 mode. I'd love to have a 1v1 and/or other game modes. However, we don't have a gigantic team so, rather than try to do everything, we want to absolutely nail 3v3. Then, we can plan on adding more cool stuff down the road "

I'm really looking forward to being able to grab a couple of my casual gamer mates and play 3v3 ranked in a game which is designed specifically around that mode. The more I think about it, the more the idea and concept of core RTS gameplay being constructed around 3v3 intrigues me.
Bring on beta!

Other RTS games require macro/micro. the AoE series for example. You can kite with ranged units, you have to micro the battles appropriately as the units work in a sort of rock paper, scissor fashion so you have to control which units engage which other units. You want to control how many units fire on any given target, so that if it only takes 8 units to kill something you want to fire on it with just 8 and not a control group of 40. The list goes on. Requires macro as well, and to be honest it is in some ways more difficult than starcraft macro in that you have to have your resource distribution handled. There are 4 resources types and certain things cost certain resources, if you prepare to go for a certain unit combination but haven't sorted your production out properly you basically auto-lose. If you sit too long on cheap units and don't work towards the more expensive units that cost gold you will lose. So yes, there are games out there that require micro/macro at pretty deep levels that aren't just sc :/.
I'll keep an eye on this could be fun, signed up for beta.

Yeah, I think a legitimized team competition is an important evolution for rts. I know at least half a dozen people who love starcraft and are competitive in other games, but don't play because they can't play with friends.
It's a really interesting direction.
Hero units though... oh well. Can't have it all.

Aaaaaaand all hype gone.

No 1on1? Thanks but no thanks. I am still looking forward to try it because i was a huge fan of 2on2 in broodwar but the hype is gone.

anyone have a link to the beta signup? I wouldn't write it off so early.. i mean it won't be as good as BW due to the lack of 1v1, but 3v3 can still be fun.

You can still watch replays and do live observing in the browser which is cool.

Because I would rather play an RTS. I don't want to control just 1 unit.
I enjoy 3v3s in SC2 and I liked monobattles, which this game seems to take some inspiration from. Sure, I wish Atlas offered more of a direct challenger to SC2 and focused on competitive 1v1, but that doesn't automatically mean the game will be bad/pointless/etc.

This looks pretty cool, I don't care about 3v3 stuff people really seem to be more comfortable in team games. With the way the game is set up I don't know how 1v1s will work for them. I signed up for Beta I will play test the shit out of this.

For team experience I don't know why you would not rather play Dota 2. because moba players are horrible and retarded, where as big bad RTS players are somewhat less retarded on an average... also i don't like mobas because they're way too slow. that said, i dont know why anyone would choose 3v3 over 1v1 for their competitive outlet, but everyone is different
also, keep in mind that even if browser games aren't fully supported the tools will still be in place for hopefully an optimized rts style browser client.. even if people are unhappy with the 3v3s, there's a chance that a 1v1 mod will pop up with a (hopefully open source) modern client

Here is my issue with Project Atlas approach. I am sure that when they playtested 3v3s it was all super awesome because everyone would be really polite and communicate efficiently. However, the experience is not gonna be anything like that when you get a bigger playerbase.
I absolutely despise the teamplay experience, but it's a neccesity for the teamfight/outplay-dynamic. But in an RTS, it just seems completetely unnecesary.
