Xbox One: 5%, PS4: 95%. That's bad.
People voting with their wallets resulting in a 40%/60% split, is not so bad considering.
I'm also pretty sure that in the long run, people will realize that Xbox One is much better and much more forward looking than PS4, with slightly cheaper games.

Found that tweet funny in there.

95% 5% would be just stupid talk. Even being a PS fan I know it will sell somewhat in the US.
However being 3:2 is still a strong difference, and its in the US... the bread and butter of MS.
Edit: ha shit double post. Sorry mod.

It's bad.
Previously in US sales, X Box 360 totally smashes PS3 sales.
Now PS4 is leading 3:2 in terms of ratio. If XBONE is losing sales in the US, Tell me what happened when it comes to worldwide sales. I am getting ready for the massive beatdown
Nah you are wrong. PS4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>XBONE. Please tell me why XBONE is better.
Better Specs. Better Pricing. Region Free. No DRM. Support Used Game. No forced bundle. No 24 hour check-up on internet connection.
Slightly cheaper games is speculation.

everything is still too early to say, it's not like original xbox died after that horrible initial pricing and late launch date but hopefully the games will be as diverse as it was in ps/ps2 era, the last gen had way too much fps/tps

FPS has been the most popular and will be. Why? Because American love shooting games, as simple as that. One of the reason Xbox360 gain alot of popularity in America is because of their superior FPS games compare to Sony's RPG and Adventures games. It was too late when Sony realized that, together with a hefty price of PS3, they lost the US to Xbox360.
I've come to know that Americans love FPS from like 7-8 years ago, but it still surprise me by how many FPS they can consume. Its like, not matter how shitty your game is, if its a FPS it will sell in the US.
People(at least game reviewers and industry veteran) start to say how COD becomes a generic shooter, but my guess is COD can just keep doing the same shit and sell millions of copies 3-4 years down the road.

Bad news travels fast and sticks around double what it takes to remove it.
For example, the Xbox Support 2 twitter feed:
http://kotaku.com/microsoft-cant-tell-us-if-the-xbox-one-is-region-free-513494440
The problem there being that the Xbox Support Twitter account was one of the most notorious suppliers of confusing information at the Xbox One's reveal.
So we reached out to Microsoft for clarification on the issue. And...didn't get much further. We were initially sent the following statement:
At this time, we have announced Xbox One will be available in 21 markets in November this year and additional markets later in 2014. Similar to the movie and music industry, games and other content must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale – which means that games will work in the broad geographic regions for which they have been cleared, much as today with Xbox 360. While the console itself is not geographically restricted, a user’s Xbox Live account, content, apps and experiences are all tied to the country of billing and residence.
Again, not terribly helpful. It made a lot of suggestions, but offered nothing concrete. Meeting "country-specific regulatory guidelines" simply means passing classification. We have no idea what "broad geographic regions" are, and if the console itself is not "geographically restricted", but everything else is, how does that actually work?

This article is from May so I'm not sure how accurate the information is, but I can't find anything newer about the Live Search stuff.
Will TV content be integrated into Bing Video Search? As it was presented today, One Guide seemed isolated from the Xbox One's other impressive video capabilities, which includes tons of apps (Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Instant) and even live TV via some providers like Verizon Fios. One of the Xbox 360's strength is its excellent cross-platform searching capability, and it would be a shame if your cable TV content wasn't included in those results. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7-57585543-221/six-challenges-for-integrated-tv-on-the-xbox-one/
That would seriously cut down on the usefulness of the UI/Live Search capabilities. The main draw of having it as a pass-through (like Google TV) is that you can include live TV listings along with all the other search options, for a unified content-finding situation. If there's a separate system you have to use for live TV and VODs, then it's not much better than changing inputs like is currently available.
Again, I've been looking for major superiority on the entertainment system front and I've yet to find it.

I don't see how one excludes the other. I can easily discuss the xbox in a serious way while making fun of it (and I have, lets be honest).

You can do one or the other, but they don't go well hand in hand. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything, I'm just saying it's hard to talk to someone when the other side is immediately annoyed or offended. You end up with essentially what Engadget has become, with Apple and Android fanboys yelling past each other. Blisse raised a point and I agree. Especially since he's been a high quality poster in this thread and has been pretty civil despite other people trying to yell past him.

Apparently if you get banned on xbox live for whatever reason that you probably deserve, you also lose your right to play all your games for the duration of the ban. I find that a bit extreme.

I find that a bit extreme. You probably get banned from playing games online ie multiplayer off normal bans. If you get banned for like creditcard fraud or w.e with your account you probably can't play your games. There are multiple reasons for a ban and multiple levels of bans that can be handed out.
I remember people bitching about EA banning your origin account if you force refund your simcity order, but it's not at all unreasonable.
What the guy did was call up his credit-card provider and block the transaction paying for the simcity game, but by refunding your game this way you just essentially bounced a check so EA banning your whole account for doing this is not unreasonable. You already bought the game and agreed to pay for it but then last minute you reneged. Yet due to how the Internet works and misinformation people thought EA was in the wrong for banning the guys account when in reality you do this to any store they probably would stop doing business with you.
Really alot of this gets cleared up once these consoles actually launch.

it is very hard not to ridicule this system after this PR mess, literally every information they have revealed was bad news for gamers.

The pre-order split may also be due to people wanting to purchase for resale (applies to both consoles obviously).

Oh yeah lol i forgot that happens irrc this was especially bad in the asian markets with the ps3, where people would buy them to sell them overseas to NA or EU for like 700 bucks or w.e. Honestly i don't see the xbox one as all that bad or the ps4 for that manner, the ps4 is just less interesting because it's not really doing anything risky which is probably fine sense Sony is doing horribly at a finical standpoint. Either way i don't buy consoles when they come out i usually wait a year, for games and other things. I'd also wait for xbox one for like a year because i just know microsoft is going to strike deals with ISPs due to using the internet is required. I can see microsoft partnering with ISPs essentially sign this like 2 year contract with us and we'll give you a xbox sort of deal.

1) A 3:2 ratio is a massive difference. When you're talking about 10 million units sold to 6.5 million... yeah. And that ratio is only going to be worse for Microsoft in non-US markets. 2) Obviously the people voting on gaming websites are a vocal minority, but word-of-mouth spreads quickly, and the negative press the X1 has gotten is only going to reach more eyes and ears as the launch approaches. 3) Sony's biggest problem might be getting enough units shipped. If there's a shortage, I'm sure there's a big chunk of people who wouldn't mind simply buying an X1 instead if it's more readily available. Having an advantage only matters if people can actually buy the device.
Lastly, Sony has the better first party developers and that matters in the long run. This really isn't arguable. In terms of launch-day exclusives, I think Microsoft has the advantage. Microsoft also has Halo, and the Halo brand will sell consoles no matter who is developing its games. Credit to MS for fostering that brand, but they don't have any notable first-party studios.
Sony has Naughty Dog, Ready At Dawn, SCE Santa Monica, and more. Long term, I'd be more confident with a yearly Naughty Dog title and whatever comes out of RAD/Santa Monica.
For example, The Order: 1886 is being developed by Ready at Dawn and Santa Monica. Ready At Dawn is ex-Naughty Dog and Blizzard devs, and created the God of War PSP games (which were highly acclaimed). Santa Monica is responsible for the console God of War games, a series which is likely responsible for selling hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of PS2/PS3s.
I like Sony's first-party track record. I think the PS4 is at a slight disadvantage with exclusives at launch, but they have The Order: 1886 coming and it's being developed by two reputable studios and looks to be a strong IP. Then Naughty Dog now has 2 teams, giving them the ability to put out a game almost every year.

I'm also curious where IGN is getting their pre-order numbers from, since they didn't cite anything.
