Riker stopping the battle? Is the only possible answer really "the party was so fucked the DM decided to let them off the hook"? Are there no other possible answers out there? Allegations of babying, or DM cheating (picking results rather than letting the dice decide) are actually somewhat insulting. Since this is a game of imperfect knowledge, at some level you guys are going to have to trust me. If you can't trust me, everything will be impossible to watch. | ||

I was starting to worry when JP ran his character through two tentacles (at this point i believe he knew that he'd be constricted/disabled if hit) which was at least 75% chance at a glance if he just had to roll higher than 9 for a dodge. They also had like above 65% chance for either abi or bregor to nail him before the spell cast since sunscorch was dodged, possibly lining up richstar to be killed later on.. i mean these are chances you usually take despite a lizardman getting an extra chance to damage you--i would take them at least, haha. I always think before taking the numbers you know 'out-of-game' into the whole roleplaying situation. for example, abi, bregor, and tudagub 'know' their chances of nailing a physical attack are pretty slim because of the perception that they roll low rather than high, or that they just have bad rolls in general... but then they realize for obvious reasons (or for the sake of easiness) that vincent's initiative roll is just as apt as bregor's initiative roll. On the other hand, I just think roleplaying or incorporating the battle rolls into the nuances of each character (as they are currently) is interesting and gives the player an excuse to try things they wouldn't normally try (or the exact opposite of that  )....and an example of them doing this is when vincent (who hits more often and harder than not) is saying stuff like, 'i behead him', while bregor, tudagub, or abi are saying more timid things like, 'i'll take a shot, i guess' or, 'i'll take a swing.. [and hope to hit]'. i'm also certain those attitudes will change when everyone else gets some good battle-gear. Screw the movie references : D. I'd be happy to see starcraft references in there! | ||

With the direction they are going, they should explore the seedy, dock side of town. Would be a nice change of pace. I do wish the group would take some time to figure out where they stand instead of acting on instinct and whatever they choose to do in the moment. That shows a lack of connection to the game world. The best moments of the whole show are when the players think through the minds of their characters and not just what advances their kill/loot count. As for the flour, how are you going to chuck a bag of flower 25 feet up in the air, let alone know where he is after he went? I guess you would do it before then, cute idea. Bag of flower is a wasted inventory spot in any other situation, though. Also that shit with Tudagub and the garden gnome was the most hilarious encounter I've seen in a long time, thank you Neal! | ||

I expect the real reason is that he blew some spells to get there, has some defensive spells so that he could survive the night and memorize new spells in the morning, and doesn't have the FF 'scope' spell to see what the party's HP is at. In all likelyhood he will show up the next morning to try and finish them off. Expecting the wizard to use all (or even most) of his spells to kill off the PCs is as much metagaming as stopping way early. | ||

You were playing that off well, maybe the character got away from you and has a life of his own now. I don't really see Ryan coming through i see Bregor. it's night and day when you talk in character and when you are joking with your friends. | ||
