Find a game you like and see if there's one that is popular and has strategies/routes to pick up. If you are into zelda, take a look at this: http://www.zeldaspeedruns.com/ If you like metroid games (In my opinion the easiest to pick up tricks for), take a look at this: http://www.metroid2002.com/ (I don't know if there's a better site for metroid stuff, this is where I learned most of the stuff i know how to do in prime) If you just want to see runs, there are a few sites you can look at such as http://speeddemosarchive.com/ (Doesn't always have WR runs, usually just SDA timing records) http://zeldaspeedruns.com/leaderboards/ (Has links to runs) Streamers that stream certain games www.twitch.tv/cosmowright (Used to do OOT, does windwaker,banjo kazooie, commander keen series) www.twitch.tv/siglemic (Super Mario 64) www.twitch.tv/dram55 (Super Mario World) www.twitch.tv/5upamayne (Pokemon Yellow) www.twitch.tv/werster (Pokemon Series) www.twitch.tv/acmlm (Alttp) There's many others but these are the ones that I notice streaming on a constant basis/semi constant basis. In addition, certain sites do speedrun marathons. http://thespeedgamers.com/ speeddemosarchive has a marathon called "Awesome Games Done Quick" I would advise not picking up a game you've never even heard of before to learn to run just on the basis that it is easier to run. Have fun with it, and you'll get faster just because you're more motivated to play a game you like. | ||
