Servers are insane, the last part of the Heavensward MSQ has some cool cutscenes but is 99.999% just walking around, and BLM actually plays better than I feared, though the DPS nerf to AoE damage is super apparent.

Overall looking forward to spending another month or 2 with this game.

The whole Raubahn/Cold Steel situation is pretty meh. I don't have a problem with the congestion, as these things are to be expected during a launch/EA, but it's really how the MSQ is arranged that bothers me. That and the map design of the first two zones.

All of these factors combined together makes it so that you really can't do much at all if you're not lucky enough to get past Raubahn. And it really is all luck, at least on NA. I'm on Leviathan and you've got 50+ people perpetually macroing the NPC at all times.

I think I'm just going to bypass EA and possibly launch altogether, and wait a few days. I'm not too interested in playing roulette to move on with the story.

I am doing other stuff atm because of that quest.

Leveling my samurai some, doing the Squadron stuff for your GC, and I explored all I could with maps for aethers. Will probably work on my gathering professions some too. Kind of sucks that the MSQ is stuck because of this though.

I'm really disappointed that they took out SMN's sustain spell. That was really nice for things like hunts, boss fates, or just topping off your pet during an encounters down time. What is even the point of Titan anymore if you can't heal him while he's tanking except for little 500 physick cures?
On the plus side, I'll now forever be at #1 on PotD SMN rankings since it's impossible to get as high as I did without it ._.

Where would you guys recommend buying FFXIV? I want it on steam (ease of use as I am always logged into steam for other stuff), but I heard you get kind of screwed and possibly locked out of some stuff with the steam version. Not sure how much it matters tbh.

edit: tbh think I'm just getting it on SE.

I think the Steam version excludes you from purchasing physical game copies, so if you care about physical collector's edition stuff then don't buy it off Steam. You also of course have to buy the game and expansions off steam, and could possibly miss out on game sales selling XIV at a reduced price. Besides that, I don't know of any other differences. Steam might have some more/better payment alternatives? I'd do a google search to make sure if that's a concern.

I just finished the MSQ of Stormblood and oh boy did the last fight blow Heavensward out of the water. That was perfect, the enemy, the visuals, the mechanics and the amazing soundtrack.
That was just perfect.

I thought Thordan's Reign was pretty fucking good, so I can't wait for this. I'm level gated out of the MSQ right now and DPS roulettes are 45+ min queues on my server, so off to sidequests it is.

Speaking of roulettes, while I'm grateful that they finally made it so you can have your chocobuddy out when you're queued, you still can't do fuck all else while you're queued, which is quite frustrating.

I have a question. I'm currently around lvl 20, should I not waste my time doing side quests at this point? Doing the main quests and keeping up with my class/job quests have been way more than enough (I'm actually over leveled). I also feel like a lot of the side quests are boring, so I see no point in doing a lot of them. Are there any I should do, or should I just beast mode through the main story and my class/job related quests until I'm 50+.

until you are 50 you can pretty much safely ignore sidequests unless you get gated on levels for the MSQ. On 50 there are a couple of noteworthy ones which unlock content. But what I usually do (and have been doing for SB as well) is leave the sidequests for later jobs/classes to level since the MSQ gives out so much xp.

Yea doing the MSQ is more than enough because I get extra exp until I'm 50, and I also get extra exp because I'm on one of the smaller servers (guess it's an incentive to grow those servers).

Also be sure to check out the Hall of the Novice to get a ring that gives you +30% exp for jobs below level 30.

Just finished Main story quest today. I loved it. The fights, the music, all fantastic.

I definitely liked many of the new dungeons and fights along the way to 70. Now to go level up other classes/professions.

I've been queueing for Sastasha for about 30 minutes now. I have a feeling it's going to take way longer than this. Why is this a required main quest

DPS queues atm are pretty long sadly. I had to wait usually close to 30m per dungeon queue.

You will have many more dungeons in the future to go through for main story, although they are usually spaced out well enough that it's not terrible to be waiting that long.
