Hopefully there will be no RB domination this year!! :>
The field is so close with 7* different cars in top 10
hard to say McLaren is fastest in general since Melbourne is more about traction and less about areo than rest of the tracks but surely they look strong.
Lotus (reanault) was always good at less areo heavy tracks, lets see what they can do in race and next weekend.
Merc (cheaters ) look strong too... and Ferrari is a dog so far should be interesting season this one
*Perez was given 5 place drop for gearbox change

I think its time for the FIA to get tougher on HRT since they are realy taking the micheal for the last three years only brining the car to the first race, only for it to brake down or slow everyone else up.
You have to give HRT credit for getting this far, for a brand new team with basically no money they are doing the very best they can.
But I don't think they should be allowed to race becasue they are simply a hinderance to the rest of the pack at the moment.

From watching the onboard shots it seems pretty clear that the McLaren and the Merc are the nicest to drive, and the middle of the pack have caught up ALOT... but yeah, that Ferrari is a mess at the moment and look horrible to drive... they have alot of work ahead of them

The only credit left for them is they have not folded like USF1 3 years ago before the first race. I don't see them making the season this year. This is going to be Super aguri halfway through the 08 season

Mclaren E Z P Z, bout time they and others are shoving Red Bull into there place! There nothing without there Difuser abuse last season, glad FIA decided to ban it this year. Also im glad they have made the cars less "computery" so drivers actually earn there money by DRIVING the car not just guiding it round corners. Lewis and Jenson always have been Great drivers and in my opinion Vettell has lots to learn in another car which is less than the others, last season Button and Hamilton proved were good enough to drive a worst car than Red Bulls and still challenge, this season qualifying showed Mclaren are spot on at the start and Red Bull are off the pace for numerous reasons.
Massa is not a driver since his accident, when he came back he was bad, the start of this season he cant stick to the road due to the cars sliding out at the back and he cant handle the drifting at that speed, when there is a gap of 5-8+ places you know theres a problem in the driver not the car. Alonso always been a fantastic driver just has attitude problem which is not a bad thing as he wants to win everytime, i still like him as a driver even though he is a bit agressive in any press conference or with team mates!
Im hoping Button and Hamilton dont drive eachother off or into mistakes tomorrow because they both are very competitive i hope no incidents between them off the start, but i find it very interesting race with Grojean in 3rd, he will want to do well in the first corner tomorrow.
Lets keep the England flag flying Mclaren :D

bad day to be a ferrari fan... not even 1 in top 10 pole position hopefuly they can comeback with a win tommorrow..maybe im expecting to much but anyways GL to them!

Biggest threat to Hamilton tomorrow? Lapping Felipe Massa (twice)

The Ferrari car looks really troubling - both drivers were really struggling for traction throughout qualifying and both of them seemed to be preparing for next week in their interviews.

Wow ! I'm happy to see that the Lotus seems nice. I always been a fan of Raikkonen since he got this championship by 1pts in the last Grandprix, and for his comeback from last place to winner in Japan 2007. Sad the miscommunication make him being 18h here tho. Having a French at third is nice, been a long time since one has been good.

Man i would've sacrificed one of my balls to have räikkönen in grosjeans place! bummer he missed out in q1. Hopefully schumi can provide us with some entertainment from fourth.

Alonso is a seriously good starter, he will eat both Toro Rossos for breakfast. His race pace and sheer talent will put him into P8, but from that point on I really don't see his car being able to do any better unless there are retirements in the leading pack. I would have never thought I would ever say something like this, but: I hope Ferrari will do better in the near future. From P1-P7, everything is possible, literally everything. And it will be a blast to watch Kimi moshing through the midfield.

not so sure about Alonso. Resports say new ferrari has a very narrow performance window. So they can do a relatively good one lap in qually but entire race with different fuel loads/changing conditions (sun setting - track cooling, etc) i dunno...
Also their tyre drop off was one of the biggest during race sims at last Barcelona test. It will be really hard for Alonso to get into top8

Season is long. Reportedly they are working on a completely new chasis which should be ready for Spain GP, once it completes crash tests. So theres a hope still for Alonsos WDC if he doesnt lose too many points before the upgrade

Anyway, Ferrari is still strugling to deliver a car thats up to the expectations for a few years now... werid

simply being there to 'compete' is an achivment in its self given the insane barrier to entry F1 has, the more new teams the better... its sad that they are struggling so much, but who knows what the future holds.

Yeah, and with numerous campaigns for "money caps" on how much a team came spend on there cars looming, it only opens the doors to more cars, HOWEVER there surely needs to be a limit, unless what happens with the HRT today, is going to happen more and more. Cars will be on the grid but there will be a "par" qualifying time to be able to race in race day. You can't have (imo) no more than 24 cars on the grid at one time, or the first lap becomes way to dangerous as it is, especially as most tracks are long straight roads before corner 1 thus the cars travelling 150-200kmh plus before taking the corner = bad bad accidents waiting to happen.
But hopefully something will happen, alot of the good drivers do get picked up early. Like the new french man is he? Vern? Did very well in qualifying.

Are there any online streams of the Australian GP that are "international" and not restricted to certain countries (eg. sky for England)?
