Di Resta has been destroyed twice (imo) by better drivers, he hasn't earned a top seat.
These were my predictions prior to Melbourne. + Show Spoiler +As for the driver battles, some interesting team-mates this year. This is how I see it going. Vettel > Webber. It looked last year like Vettel had broken Webbers resolve and I do not see any change happening here, I expect Vettel to dominate Webber. Hamilton > Button. It was Lewis' worst ever year and the first time in his life a team-mate beat him. Expect Lewis to respond and beat Jens but I feel it will be close again. Alonso > Massa. Do I even need to comment? Alonso by miles. Rosberg > Schumacher. Schumacher performed well towards the end of last year and the F-duct boost for quali will help him a huge amount but I feel Rosberg will have too much for him, close one though. Raikkonen > Grosjean. Could Kimi ask for a weaker team-mate? Outside of HRT I dont think so. Hulkenberg > Di Resta. The Hulk is an outstanding prospect with his only blip being his debut season in a difficult Williams, he will be hungry to prove himself. I expect him to beat DiResta comfortably. Kobayashi > Perez. Hard call between these two, they both seem inconsistent but I will choose Kamui because I like his approach to racing. Vergne > Ricciardo. The two rookies battle it out at Diet Red Bull, I think Vergne will prove a good driver. Confidence certainly wont be a problem for him. Senna > Maldonado. This is a weak driver line-up but I expect Bruno will come out on top in the end. Kovaleinen > Petrov. It will be tough for Vitali here as Heikki has settled in and driven very well recently for Caterham, expect a landslide victory. Glock > Pic. Tough job for anyone to come into a bad car and prove themselves and Glock is not a bad driver at all. Both HRT drivers have no place in F1 so I wont even bother with them.
As for the title, I think it will be the usual protagonists who fight it out. Vettel, Hamilton, Button and Alonso. If I had to pick one now I will say Vettel, as I feel Red Bull hasnt shown their hand yet. Lets just hope for a great year and minimal stewards inquiries
So I had RB, McLaren, Ferrari, Lotus, FI nailed I would say Perez out-performed Kobayashi, but both did a similar job, seems ridiculous that one is heading to a top team while the other picks up his P45. Vergne won on paper at Toro Rosso but I feel Ricciardo came out looking better, certainly in quali. My major fail was backing Senna, who has been better on Sunday than his team-mate but has made a real mess of Saturday, it has cost him his career I feel. Both Williams drivers did a poor job I think. Hopefully Bottas can maximise their potential, which this year has been much higher than it seems looking at points scored. Petrov in the second half of the year really stepped up, shame because I dont think it was enough to save his career and if anything has just hurt Heikki's chances of staying in F1 too.

I really don't think you understand F1 in any meaninful way.. Ahh perhaps I could learn from your vast knowledge one day. I am going to assume, because you didn't state it, you posted that because of what I said about Di Resta. Well, it is true. Sutil easily beat him in points in 2011 while performing much better, something along the level of the Vettel/Webber battle this year. Had Hulkenberg finished in 1st/2nd in Brazil, which he should have, he would have almost double the points this year. Objectively, after being beaten so easily by two drivers who also do not have top drives, what possible reason does Di Resta have to drive for McLaren? Whilst not as much a meritocracy as it should be, F1 drivers need to earn seats in the top four teams.

No, that's not what I was referring too...

Lewis made the corner without a problem, then Nico drove into him becasue he broke too late, it wasn't a racing incident it was an error in jugment that caused a collision and a retirement from the race.
And there isn't anything to argue, he did loose control, he did crash into Lewis who left him space and was in total control of his own car and he did recive a penalty. Not only that he went to talk to Lewis after the race and appologise for taking him out of his last race with Mclaren.
This is what I think of you haha

What do you guys think of De Resta? He has somewhat impressed on occasion, but generally he seems like a new Heidfeld, only slightly slowed and not as good /less visible results in rain-affected races?
Also I'm surprised McLaren went with Perez instead of Hulkenberg or even Pic tbh. Perez had some good races, but he seems to be reading his own press too much and had too many bad races after good ones. The Sauber car in the hands of someone like Alonso or Hamilton would probably have been a podium contender for many races.

I don't know what to make of Paul's performance, he's conducted him self better than anyone on track (choosing who and who not to fight with) and he's done pretty ok this season, but Nico has just destoryed him this season and I'm not really sure why... after races where he has poor results your kinda wondering if there was something wrong with the set-up or car and some times there is and sometimes he just comes out says that he's slow... maybe he's just not very well suited to single seaters/open wheel cars?
And yeah Sauber had a really nice package this year and I think its probally the primary reason why Kamui might not get another drive... with HRT going they might look to pick up De la Rosa and add some experiance into the frame rather than two rookie drivers giving inconsistent results
