Rockets played really hard tonight. Obviously wanted it more. Dragic killed the Lakers tonight 24 points 11 assists and Bynum getting ejected was huge also.

Ironic, just like last season, where Popovich was the coach who cared the least about throwing regular season games, and was mostly concerned about resting his starters for the playoffs.

I think his coaching style is genius in this way. His attitude pretty much puts the spotlight on the bench and role players to step up and not rely on their stars to carry them because he's going to rest them if push comes to shove. This both takes some of the pressure off of them because they know they'll be getting minutes regardless, but also gives them a motivation to play their best because they are being given real responsibility. It's no surprise to me that players seem to magically get better when they're under his leadership. Not to mention also being mentored by some of the best veterans still around in the league.

That's still the case I don't think any other coach gives so much games off, and so little play time for their star players. A few games ago I remember the official box score for Duncan said "DNP -- Old "

Duncan is putting up just under his career numbers per 36, and most of their players are young role players. They arent a veteran team by any stretch of the word, they are a young run and gun team, with good wing defenders, and a lightning fast pg, who is only 29.

I actually think you're right (on your last point), and most Spurs fans saw it coming to some extent (although I didn't think they would lose so early). The defense was bad, they had obvious weaknesses that Memphis exploited. Not to mention some bad injuries that people conveniently forget for some reason. This year is completely different. They could still go out early (same for everybody in the West really), but only because of how incredibly competitive the conference is. They could meet Dallas in the first round, or even Denver which is a good underrated team. I'm hoping for Houston personally but even the Rockets wouldn't be a joke. I never understood how anyone can find them boring though. I think they're the most exciting team, with a very fast paced, collective offense where the ball moves so well. They're the most entertaining team in the NBA for me.
