Can anyone estimate where Austin Rivers falls in terms of draft? Could it ever be a good pick for the Celtics? Would he get torched if he were to play PG in NBA?

I hope boston doesn't pick him up, too undersized. there are plenty of big men worth taking risks on by time boston can draft. austin should go in the mid-early part of the draft for his pedigree, and the fact he plays an nba game, but he is still small for a two guard for a contender to pick up, more likely someone with two picks taking a risk, or a lowly team trying to slowly improve their backcourt.

I was just thinking theres some use for him if he can play pg as well, it would be kind of sick to have him behind rondo and bradley in the future. but he does look like a pure shooter from highlights. i dont really want him here since he sounds spoiled, too cocky to be around rondo, kg and pierce

Yea he wont be making any waves for a while if thats what people are trying to imply.

I think that Austin Rivers will get picked somewhere between 10-15 or so. I think he'll have a shot at a good NBA career. He's very fundamentally sound and knows how to play the game, he's got NBA size to play the 1 or the 2. He's not one of these guys that gets by on athleticism alone and won't be able to translate his college success into the NBA (see Tyrus Thomas, Melvin Levitt)

Unlike ecstatica, I kind of actually like how he sounds from the interviews I've heard from him. Admittedly, I have not watched him play a minute, but I like his attitude as a rookie going into the league.

I think he can have a good career, and had decent manners, I just don't see him being as good as fast as other lottery picks. if a team like boston has him drop that low and want to develop him, cool, but I'd much rather a team like denver, or minnesota taking a risk on him. boston going way up the draft though, they should only get mid 20s picks, I'd rather a risk on a fundamentally sound tweener of draymond green. good schooling, well rounded, can learn from paul pierce, looks good in green.

we really need a pf, or a center though, or both. our pg rotation is the only thing on lock past this season.

Does anyone else see Portland drafting Drummond, only to have another draft-bust due to him being inconsistent as fuck? Portland tends to have the worst luck when drafting high :<

Theres no point speculating on that pick until the balls roll, its top 3 protected.

But if it comes down to it, Drummond will probably go earlier since high upside big men are always taken quickly, and hopefully Robinson drops down the list due to being slightly undersized. Or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Either one fits the Portland mold, and they need another developing wing, since Batum might be gone, and there is no one to back him up really.

Rivers will be a late first IMO.

This year's draft will be very interesting though. A lot of promising prospects in it.

Melo is a great unknown. He was overrated, and is now underrated, because what he will produce on any given night is unknown.

Guy knows how to work people with his size though.

Melo needs to be in the right system to succeed where he can dominate the ball a lot with strong shooters around him and a good defensive C.

The Knicks team that played today is better suited for Melo as Lin and Amare aren't there to dominate the ball too much (Amare to a larger extent). I think they'd be better with a Ryan Anderson type at PF. I think Lin and Melo can work fine with Woodson as coach. Knicks' big problem is their depth though.
