Just thought I'd make a new thread for this since I searched and found a few that we're pretty old. Didn't want to necro them or anything.
Anyway if you used to play Ragnarok Online it's free-to-play now and they'll re-add your old accounts under one account at warpportal.
Go here Warpportal Ragnarok Online and register an account then if you can remember your old information you can add your old accounts or just make a new one if you've never played!
I've been having a lot of fun and nostalgia playing my old accounts so I thought I'd share with any of the people here who used to play and just havn't thought about it in a while.
If you can't remember your account info to add it yourself (i.e. you put fake birthday or forgot your e-mail account etc) you can submit a ticket and they'll help you by adding it if you supply enough information. Support is really fast and helpful now compared to the past.
Check it out if you're bored, my names Blade Fox_I (character got renamed to that) on the Ymir server if you're looking for a friend or help I'll do my best. I just started playing it like a week ago so I'm still getting my bearings myself.
Also here's a list of changes in Renewal for newbies and veterans alike:
+ Show Spoiler +I. Renewal Changes
Ragnarok Online was originally released in 2002. The International version of the game was frequently updated but generally used the same mechanics, until October 2010 when Gravity implemented what they call the "Renewal Update". The Renewal Update made dramatic changes to the game's design. A complete summary of the changes can be found here.
The most important changes are as follows:
The amount of experience needed to level up has been dramatically reduced. 3rd Jobs have been added for First Class characters (Swordsman, Thief, Acolyte, Merchant and Archer classes) who are Base level 99, Job Level 50 in their Second Job. A list of all the current Jobs can be found here. After becoming a 3rd Job, the base Level cap increases for these characters from level 99 to 150. They can also spend stat points to increase a stat to 120. The game now offers free to play servers with the option to make an account "VIP" for a month to three months. VIP accounts have several benefits, including a x1.5 experience and monster drops multiplier. They also have access to an NPC in the 'Eden Group' that awards a free +7 bonus to all stats for half an hour. The old servers are gone. International Ragnarok Online (iRo) now has three servers; Ymir (High population server F2P) and Valkyrie (high population F2P) and Yggdrasil (low population F2P). All existing accounts were moved to Ymir by default but you can pay to have your characters moved to different servers. Info about the different servers can be found here. The damage algorithm has completely changed. There is no longer a bonus for having multiples of 10 in a stat. Status ailment immunities can no longer be obtained by having certain stat point levels (e.g Having 100 VIT meant you were immune to 'Stun'. This is no longer true). Immunities now depend on having gear. The cast time algorithm has been altered to incorporate two parts; a fixed cast time (that can be reduced with equipment bonuses) and a stat variable cast time (this can be reduced by having DEX). Some skills also have cooldowns (that can be reduced by equipment bonuses) and there is a global cooldown (no skills can be used for a set time) after the use of some skills. The Graphical User Interface has received some improvements; Job skills are better organized, there is a Quests tab and Kafra Storage organizes items much better than before with a Search option. There is also an in-game World Map. A "looking for group" system has been added. This option appears under the 'Booking' tab of your GUI. All Ragnarok Online game accounts have had their passwords reset and must be connected to a Master account. Details can be found here. Monsters now have levels. You must be within 5 levels of a monster's own level in order to receive 100% of their experience; if they are lower than 5 levels then you receive less experience from them. Leveling on monsters 10 to 15 levels higher than your character is the optimal way to get experience now. There is now also a penalty on the drop rates of monster if you are much higher level than the monster (this makes it harder to farm items using high level characters). Many skills have received slight changes (example: Crusader's Spear Quicken now works on one handed spears). The War of Emperium Guild PVP event has been revised. There is now a point system for Guild Alliances (currently disabled for review). Some of the user interface keyboard commands have changed. The current list of commands can be found here.
The client for the International version of the game can be found here.
Enjoy!

i always loved to play ragnarok since i was 12 (7 years now lol). i never palyed on real server tho(well i was 12 and no moneyz). i also didnt like grinding so i played on rates like 5/5/3 etc. but in the last 2 years ragnarok was pretty dead, biggest servers were like 200 users online at the biggest servers, but i just recently found out it got back alive :D right now im playing on a 800+ users online server and i really enjoy playing it again i guess f2p had something to do with that (actually i think they kinda support it too, i saw the official ragnarok facebook page liking the facebook page of the private server im playing on xd)
ps: i play on talonro if anyones interest pps: my characters name: Teddyy
|
I started on TalonRO as well a while ago. Nice server, quite some people on it, and I've heard that they are somewhat of a "officially-unofficial server". Mostly i'm online with my Hunter called "Zing Snap" or my Soullinker "Malek Grimweld" - feel free to message me.
|
lol I'm too old for such low rates these days :p
Just out of curiosity how is woe scene on talon? any notable guilds?
|
well i just started playing 3 days ago so i dont really know too much about it yet :D i found a very cool canadian who helped me starting off against ;D
but i have to think on a server that peaks 1k woe should own (NO lag atall)
|
Maybe if you advertised this several years ago, I'd consider it. But then again, back then there were really great private servers with the best WoEs. Even in last couple years we had VisionRO where probably the best WoEs in RO history were played out; every single notable private server guild of French, American, Russian and Brazilian/international origin clashed on that server at some point.
It just takes too long to get to the endgame of RO now, and having played official, low rates, medium rates and WoE-servers in the past, the simple allure of firewalling Argiopes had worn off long ago
|
RO was awesome, I never played a game for so long as I did play RO. Never find a game that gave me an awesome experience that it did in WoEs.

Just out of curiosity how is woe scene on talon? any notable guilds? I was the co-leader of a small vanilla (restricted gear/items) WoE guild called Distorted Clarity. The vanilla scene is awful. The vanilla scene was (and probably still is) completely dominated by 2 guilds; Panda Squad and Army of Death. AoD is a pinoy guild with zerg-like numbers, and panda squad is pretty much 90% of the English-speaking vanilla WoE population. Getting people to WoE with us was incredibly difficult for a number of reasons. A) half the pop doesn't speak fluent English, so there's a language barrier B) most people just donate to buy their gear and go straight to normal WoE (which sucks btw, everyone has GTB and eddga shoes/etc.), and those types usually aren't interested in vanilla. C) people get discouraged because it's so damn hard to take a castle from one of the 2 major powers D) other guilds are rich enough from holding castles so long (panda squad held an alde castle for a few months in a row iirc) that they can pay their members, which brings up the question: why join a small guild that can't pay you to WoE? It's pretty retarded.
Mind you, I quit before they opened more castles. It used to be 2 on saturday, 1 on wednesday (which was dominated by Army of Death due to the time (9 AM PST or something)) It might be better now.
The 'normal' WoE scene is a bit healthier though, if pay-2-win is your thing.

Yeah it's not as bad as before though. For 7 bucks you can get VIP bonus's which is 150% exp and extra buffs.
They nerfed the experience required to transcend and level a transcended and scaled all the exp.
There's also a little quest hub called the 'Eden Group' which offers quests that give large amounts of experience. It makes leveling a lot less tedious.
I don't know though I'm having fun with it, figured sharing it couldn't hurt.
I hadn't played since late 2006 so it's been pretty cool to pick it back up after all this time and see the new things added.

You just need a dedicated guild
My guild of about 25~ of us farmed about 10 billion experience in 3 days and pretty much got everyone and their alts to 99/70 on a 3x server It took us another 4 days to get all our gears to +7, full WoE equipped
As long as you know what you are doing and have the right people, RO is one of those games which rewards the ultra-hardcore. Fwiw, the first 2.8 days of that was setting up, and then we farmed about 9.8 billion of the exp in about 4-5 hours
Unfortunately we all got bored of RO (esp on servers that run detale card - GTB isn't an issue until you've met detale - this single card is officially the most broken in the game, and totally changes the metagame of WoEv1)
I'd never play solo again though, only with guildies

heh i just retired from ro.. been playing for too long.. know the game inside and out lols

God damn it. I get nostalgia stomach aches just thinking about RO. It was like 6 years of my life and I still talk to the friends that I have met through that game. It was so good.

detale card is pretty imba lol. But these days its all about the SE woe, nobody takes FE seriously anymore. I do miss non-trans woes though, those were super fun

everyone gets sucked back in eventually, denial will not help you.
I'm currently playing on a new mid rate server with the guild i joined after TL died on lumina lol

Those playing on private servers should come to Valkyrie. It's F2P and has a few thousand on at all times. Rather good shit.
|
its a highrate server with max lvl 999... who would want to do this?

I am downloading and told all my friends. We are super psyched about this!! :DD

I've been computerless for months, once I get my new computer parts in a few weeks can't wait to play again.

:D awesome, made it to archer at lunch break xDD

I used to play lots of private servers and shit back in 2007ish. Just downloaded this and am installing! I'll update this post once I decide on a character.

i played Ro back in the days before trans.
moved from Iro to animaro and stayed there till it collapsed(RIP debbie)\
then i bounced around from server to server making my mark then moving on.
unfortunately the Ro scene today is nothing compared to the old days. personally i feel renewal has striped away alot of the magic that made Ro what it was.
before renewal there would be LOTS of different builds that were all viable in their own right. now alot of them have become null and void because it doesnt matter if your build lets you have that extra 10 strength to get that attack bonus. if you have the better weapon you do more damage.....
i miss Ro more then anything. but if i came back to it i think it would ruin alot of the good memories i have of that game.
i hope one day that when Ro2 comes out. it can capture that magic that gave Ro the legacy it had.
|
I remember when I was playing LK it's so hard to get my build right for PvP, while sinx's would just get +7 infi and EDP OHKO me anyway :/
well my server didn't nerve EDP sigh.
|
Did they ever fix all the botting, or is that still ridiculously rampant like back in the day?
|
On October 08 2011 18:25 Tachion wrote: Did they ever fix all the botting, or is that still ridiculously rampant like back in the day?
ymir (the p2p server) doesnt have many bots and the economy is driven by the players. however since three servers were merged into one. the amount of top tier items that flood this server is ALOT. population around 700 peak 950~
yggdrasil is the newest server. more bots then ymir but not that bad. since its a new server the prices of everything are inflated quite a bit. cant remember if you have to pay to play this server, i think its free but not sure. population is around 850 peaking at 1050
then ther eis valkyrie. which is the bt ridden server. the entire economy (well 80% of it) is run by bots. sure alot get banned, but they get replaced before you can even tell they're gone. about 1/3 of the server is bots/merchants. but with a population of 2750 peaking at around 3400 in the day. even with a bot economy its still a good choice if you want a large community to play with.
ah. reminising again. must stay away from Ro T.T

|
I'm downloading right now... back when i was 13 years old i was so hyped for this but no money at all Q_Q but now it's f2p i will try it.

lol edp was never OP
Teamwork is OP in RO
I guess you could say that in high level RO, LK was the most useless class because they cant do enough damage, and whilst they can survive anything they are usually a waste of a party slot We had one guy who was skilled at LK, but he eventually just switched to pally because he had a tao gunka card
Sinx's seem OP because bad players generally don't have enough game knowledge/gear to deal with them. We actually phased out of sinx's simply because they wern't good enough. A decently geared + buffed sinx would be able to do a raw of 90k damage EDP, which would get reduced to 60k through linknerf, which then gets reduced pretty much to about 10k in WoE given barebone equips, and then gets FURTHER reduced to about 6k when you are properly buffed/geared Sinx's were basically great at taking out de-geared and de-buffed players, and this is even including the fact we ran stuff like ring of nibleheim etc.
Compare this to our hwiz's, that had stormgusts of 120k DPS when properly geared, or our asura champs, which had a 200k asura (which will onehit almost anything except for pallies really)
Grimtooth was amazing though because it was status+ranged+AoE+immune to animation stun, and does more DPS than sonic blow
Eventually however we just started running 14 sharpshooters and 4 AD creo's. Thing is it means your no longer restricted by range on your DPS cap. Even though each sharpshoot does a reduced of about 3k, taking 45k reduced DPS is totally impossible to out-pot because you will eventually run out of berries from weightcap
Oh and yeah, if you can't oneshot people, then theres no point in running EDP, because then all it takes is one berry or a couple of potions and you've outpotted it
|
well I never played WOE but I played BG on that server and there was no nerve on linked sinx whatsoever.
so yeah it's server problem not the class

I played on a 5/5 private server back in 2004, those were the good old days. Too bad I've got too much going on, I'ld love to play a sin again.
|
Eh just take it casually, thats what I'm doing. Not really grinding yet to be honest. Mostly trying to get a foothold in the economy and gear up a bit. I spend like 1 hour a day playing in my free time and just do the daily turn-in they added. It nets about 20mil experience with VIP buff and exp books for 1 hour of work. Then I check the market for ways to make money.
A few good sites for those who are trying it out:
http://ragial.com/market This site is great it shows all the items currently on sale on whatever server you choose using the drop down on the right. It shows you if it's overpriced or underpriced too so you can find deals. It's got a nice search function too if you're a newbie and dont know if you have something expensive to sell.
http://irowiki.org/wiki/Main_Page This site is the epicenter of up to date information too,

Anyway, Champs are better to dive and do OHKO nukes than SinXs. SinX in modern high level WoEs are reduced to being emp breakers and repair/assault on the stone things (mental blank). Most guilds have decent profs and champs who will not let you Grimtooth their guild and just HD you out or ruwach snap asura snap back to LP.
Anyway high level modern WoE presupposes that everyone is using autoscripts/macros, have got optimal gear (other than boss cards) including equips, cards and consumables like boxes, food, speed pots and other buffs. Given the evolution of WoE, individual skill has become pretty unimportant compared with guild teamplay, leadership, having the right classes, having the right third party programs and scripts, and very importantly, having a fast computer and low ping (faster spam with AHK yo). The golden age of WoE when people played for fun, theorycrafting was still primitive and not everyone had a devo/all status immunities, has long passed.
On the topic of LKs, well, they are pretty much useless in the modern metagame. They can't tank, they can't burst, they have no utility. They can only bumrush your LP and hope they don't get focused beforehand. Having said that though, I dislike the sharpshoot sniper guild comp because it's too focused on kiting and a strong LK comp (coincidentally) can easily dive and rape it. There's just not enough single target burst with the sharpshoot strat. Instead, I actually prefer FA snipers over it since they can do a lot of single target dps on a creo or hwiz without reductions, due to aspd song, agi stats, zerk pitch and bragi of course. You'd be surprised how fast creos and hwiz drop (since they've gotten so glass cannony in current metagame) if your prof can catch them with a dispel.
TLDR: modern trans WoE is boring for players who wanna rape face; it's gotten very tactical and team-based. Also LKs are probably the only underpowered job in the current metagame, and sharpshoot strat is a gimmicky thing that somehow took hold in pinoy servers but is actually very dodgy and easy to counte (offensive LP and bumrush (possibly with LK even) too OP).

As I posted in the first thread maybe I didnt link properly, all those servers he listed are the 'new' renamed servers for official Ragnarok Servers not private servers.
http://www.playragnarok.com/
Ymir is all the old servers merged. That means if you played when "Chaos" "Loki" "Iris" and "Sakray" were the main servers they were ALL merged to 'Ymir'
Ymir is the server I play on, you can only make character if you buy VIP but if you had characters on Chaos/Loki/Iris/Sakray you will have all of them merged on to Ymir now.
Yggdrasil is a new server that opened this year, hosted officially by gravity too. It just opened recently but anyone can make characters there.
Valkyrie is totally free and is an official server too. However it's ridden with bots and spam bots and is absolutely packed out of all the servers. It's always got 3000-4000 people online at all times.
If you go click on this banner it takes you straight to a registration page that lets you access these servers. Also it helps me a little bit as it will be a refer a friend type bonus.

i helped you out! so, i cant play on ymir, yggdrasil is kinda small and valkyrie is botted? any suggestion on what of those 2 i should start? btw i started on yggdrasil, but its REALLY laggy.. is that normal or is it my side? ( I DO NOT THINK THAT)

why people say they cant play on ymir while I can? I didnt pay for VIP or anything.

If there was a simple way to get this to work on my girlfriends Mac, I'd totally play.

Hey thanks!
If you can make a character on Ymir I'd say go for it, little to no bots (I've seen maybe one) no spammers and not too crowded but just populated enough to not look small.
They've been having some ISP issues so the lag could be there side. I havn't had too much lag (one hiccup) since I began.
They're working hard to fix it though.
I dont know what valkyrie is like it just seemed crowded and full of spammers so I wouldn't reccomend it.
I'd go with Ymir or Yggdrasil if you can make characters there. I personally play on Ymir because I have 3 accounts with characters all there!

I started playing again in July.
msg Benzene` on Valkyrie if you want help/have questions or whatever. (I'm level 130 RK)

i used to play on a private server run out of vancouver called xenophase.. lots of fun back in the day, low rate, couple of friends and myself might give this a try, thanks, didn't know it went free to play.

Did anyone play on ultima RO back in the day?

How many people actually play this game?

What server are you guys on?
I'm on iRO Ymir, 121 Rune Knight.

Why don't we make a TL guild on ymir or valk?

I'm on Ymir 111 Guillotine Cross, I made a guild but just have me and my girlfriend in it.

used to play private servers, maybe I'll get into this but ONLY if I have other people to play with. I can't stand MMO's by myself...

I started when i saw this post.. people are quite nice and helpful on Ymir. made it to lvl 33 swordy so far lol

Oh my gosh! This is nostalgic. We should start a TL-based guild and play on the same server :3 Downloading as we speak.
24-hour grind, here I come.
All on Ymir I assume? :x I wonder if it's worth it to get another Alchemist...
|
Is there anyone who'd actually want to run a TL guild or has good leadership skills? I have the emperium but I'm one hell of a shitty organizer/socialist/leader.
Let's get a list going of who's interested on Ymir then? Guilds have a capacity of 16 to start and you have to tax your own exp to expand slots etc. I think I saw genis has a Rune Knight, no idea if he's guilded.
|
Also I updated the first post with helpful sites for new players or returning players.

I'm not sure but I see Ymir with 1100-1200 on weekends. Averaging 800~ online weekdays.
Yggdrasil is about the same.
Valkyrie has about 3500-4500 players on at any given time.
This is just the North American servers though although it still goes by "iRO" I assume which means international servers.
From what I understand jRO (Japan Ragnarok Online) and kRO (Korean Ragnarok Online) is still highly popular. No idea on numbers.

it rly sux there is no euro server tt only private servers and they are donateridden t.t

well my server didn't nerve EDP sigh. lol edp was never OP Teamwork is OP in RO I guess you could say that in high level RO, LK was the most useless class because they cant do enough damage, and whilst they can survive anything they are usually a waste of a party slot We had one guy who was skilled at LK, but he eventually just switched to pally because he had a tao gunka card Sinx's seem OP because bad players generally don't have enough game knowledge/gear to deal with them. Compare this to our hwiz's, that had stormgusts of 120k DPS when properly geared, or our asura champs, which had a 200k asura (which will onehit almost anything except for pallies really) Grimtooth was amazing though because it was status+ranged+AoE+immune to animation stun, and does more DPS than sonic blow Eventually however we just started running 14 sharpshooters and 4 AD creo's. Thing is it means your no longer restricted by range on your DPS cap. Even though each sharpshoot does a reduced of about 3k, taking 45k reduced DPS is totally impossible to out-pot because you will eventually run out of berries from weightcap Oh and yeah, if you can't oneshot people, then theres no point in running EDP, because then all it takes is one berry or a couple of potions and you've outpotted it EDP isn't OP in WoE due to the -40% skill damage, the fact that the frontline is always devo'd, and also the precast between the LPs, which makes it impossible for random SinXs to come in and SB you.
People actually ran FA comps? Jesus christ isn't that skills the shittest of shit shits that does no dps to one person? That sounds worse than SBK sin >_>
Last i remember the main guilds i know were all running sharpshoot strats, but before that it used to be a very prof/champ fieldbattle base (esp if you have fucking detale)
Taogunka paladin was totally OP though, we were able to break almost any lokis pre with it lol
|
FA has its uses, if the sniper is built correctly it can put out a decent amount of dps due to it being affected by aspeed delay, enough to at least drop 1 vit chars. However it relies on you being able to work with your OLP/Dispell prof though, its not gonna kill anything under devo lol.
Also the utility it carries being an 18 cel range attack is pretty sweet.

Ymir is the VIP server that has only one free character slot? Or is it 3 as I saw somewhere in this thread?
They're not going to like.. make the free slot P2P after the 6th, are they? Because that's when their new players event ends
:x ??
EDIT: ok it's perma free to play, nevermind me. i'll probably eventually give into them RO urges that are trying to suck me back in, whether it's on iRO or on some other private server.
because you will always go back. always. ALWAYS. fuu

Do we have a TL guild yet? Would love some community as well as helping level haha

Uff used to play like 5 years ago in private servers.
Even with 3x rates the grind was mind dumbing. Only good thing was I played with my GF and we had fun searching for headgears for her priest. Max I got was a Wizard lvl 8X and Assassin lvl 96, but got bored of murdering seals and could never get an invite to kill the clones in the "new" dungeon.
Anyways, I might give it a try just for nostalgia value. If anyone sets up a guild I might be more motivated to do something.

that's unfortunate, when bio labs first came out it was a free ticket to 99 for every assassin because you could just mob and grim. took 'em a while to fix it and change two of them to demon types lol.

Ah yeah, I played when they already did the fix and there were guys who could see me hiding. So no free lvl up. What always bothered me about RO (beyond the mindless grinding) was you had to plan your character from lvl 1, else you screwed up on stats at creation screen and had a sub-par char.
Absolutely not newbie friendly.

You get 1 free stat/skill reset now per character. Also you can buy items to reset skill/stats after that (for real $ or zeny.)
Also, reset stones are now basically free (trade in badges you get from weekly turn ins.) So getting to 3rd job is easier than ever before.

I just checked the forums and wikis a bit. Seems the game didnt change too much. I was hoping for something like when I quit WoW in patch 2.1, and then cameback for the last exp and everything was changed and interesting (for 2 months at least :p)
Now I want to play a mage and they keep suggesting I go firewall/firebolt Argiopes like I did before. Not very interesting.
edit: I found a newbie guide saying it's better to do Eden group quests from 12 to 85. Interesting

Levelling up is insanely quick and easy in ragnarok, i have no idea what you guys are talking about
you just need to know what to do
It would take maximum 1 week for an organised guild to get everyone to 99/70 transclass on 50-60 characters
Firstly, you'll need to decide about 25 characters as mains, 15~ as slaves, and 15~ as alts Youll need a bunch of taekwons, a few priests, some bard/gypsies, a wizard, and a dabble of each other class (smith, pally etc.)
For the initial 99 on a lowrate (1x) server, you'll basically need to tough it out - most people quest the SLAVES to lvl 70 (takes about 2 hours) - and then you abuse the taekwons from lvl 70-90 Once you done that, the slaves are mostly ready Then you use the slaves to level your mains from 1-90 really fast (like 2 hours again)
The next bit which is slow is preparation - you need to make an assload of potions, acid demos, and find a way of getting enough zeny to buy relevant equips - for example we spent a whole day basically farming out a 100% lucky dodge morrigans set. You can use these to multiply migao's on a buffed sin ad infinitum and then use exp song + your wizard to get everyone to 99/70 in a day
Another way is to just get everyone into bio3 and run rampage with acid demos - probably one of the fastest levelling in the game is just to kill all of the MVP's
For your mains - you save up your quests when you trans (and same for the creo's) - so youll basically have to "sacrafice" a few of your taekwons to level up your main and creo's to the trans classes
There are plenty of other ways (slower) of levelling, but migao's and biolabs are definitely the fastest. If you farm the right cards you can make a juperos party and farm fairly fast, but youll only get like 5m exp an hour per character on a 1x which is slow (about 150m exp an hour) migaos is by far the fastest, you can literally get like 300m exp in 20 minutes across 20 characters Biolabs takes a lot of practise since we have load sof practice killing mvp's really fast without dying, but you can easily nab 200m an hour here

wow that mi gao trick sounds awesome.. but tricky. can you elaborate a little more? 100 lucky dodge? I didnt know that was possible lol

To do it you need magnum clip
99 luck sin morrigans set 2 fortune daggers priest buffs gypsy+bard buffs
some cards (cant remember)
IIRC it wasn't that hard to do
but youll need it because youll be atked by 65000 migaos per second

Is there a difference between the three servers? All my chars got ported to Ymir_VIP. X_x

you just need to know what to do
It would take maximum 1 week for an organised guild to get everyone to 99/70 transclass on 50-60 characters
If you farm the right cards you can make a juperos party and farm fairly fast, but youll only get like 5m exp an hour per character on a 1x which is slow (about 150m exp an hour) migaos is by far the fastest, you can literally get like 300m exp in 20 minutes across 20 characters Biolabs takes a lot of practise since we have load sof practice killing mvp's really fast without dying, but you can easily nab 200m an hour here
I vote you as guild leader and organizer.

Yes please, I have a guild but its just called "Wrap it up!" I have more emperium if someone wants to GM it but for now PM Blade Fox_I on Ymir to join if interested or Gak 2
If you want me to rename it to team liquid that's fine I'll drop this guild to my alts
|
The servers are so laggy, i get disconnected every minute too ;_;
|
I would be up for joining a guild on Ymir but i started freshly ;-)
|
Sorry bros i quit ragnarok a while ago, and i only play with my guild haha
I can give tips/advice on how to do shit, or how to organise WoE (FE and SE)
A good starting point sounds like you need to research the basic quests There are a lot of quests out there that give between 500k-3m exp, which are fairly easy to do. You generally level up slaves/new characters on this Also its common for rebirthing characters to kill an MVP to almost low health (preferably icewalled biolabs) and then rebirth quickly, warp in and then kill the mvp for instant lvl 90 (need a team to do this) ice necklace quest is a famous one that takes almost no time and gives an instant 600k exp then juno/rachel quest
From there if you wanna do any of the skilled stuff i mention, you're gonna need to practise it on a hi-rate server first because i garuantee if you do it on a low rate you'll fuck it up loads of times before getting it right
Its like killing bosses in WoW except its actually difficult and requires some level of coordination
edit: migaos are easy though if it still works http://bolgen.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/migaofrenzy1.jpg

Yeah that MVP trick doesn't work anymore nor does the mi gao trick since EXP scaling was introduced.
You can only gain current remaining to level exp x2. So that's neat but got nerfed.

If you kill a million migao's its not like they cap your experience lol
So they nerfed questing exp?
Guess probably then with scaling you should do abbey parties before bioMVP

I tried to start RO again...but after playing so many other MMOrpgs I just can't grind RO anymore but I used to love MVPing all day

We on euRO have to wait a little bit longer, the latency to iRO is just too damn high. Looking forward to it, though, as I already played it on kRO a lot.

u have any idea when f2p euro server comes?

On October 18 2011 21:21 teddyoojo wrote: u have any idea when f2p euro server comes? no idea. Is international too laggy?
Anyway so if you're curious about the changes to leveling since renewal here's what I found after a couple of days playing:
-Once you leave the training grounds, you're pretty much job 10, and you get a bunch of free teleports, fwings, bwings, and potions. Also first job quests were pretty much removed (at least the archer one was) -Repeatable exp quests were replaced by Eden group quests, -Eden group is a small building you can teleport to from any city, where depending on what level range you are, you get different monster killing quests (sometimes item collecting quests) -There are also equipment quests, and the equipment is really good if you're just starting
Here's more details about the quests:- Number of monsters you kill is really small.. like 15-30 so there's a lot of teleporting back to a city
- There are multiple quests for each level range... you can start them all at the same time, then when you collect your exp you can use a battle manual (you get a few for free) to boost the amount of exp you get
- The monsters should be pretty easy to kill at the level range, especially for combat classes
-The amount of exp you get now is scaled. 100% exp at within 5 levels of monster level, 140% if you're 10 levels under monster level, diminishing if you're 11 levels under or more. -What this means is you can't get tanked hard monsters or kill things like geographers when you're low level. -So leveling a low levelled guy is somewhat slower -Leveling at higher levels is a LOT faster than before (unless you did the broken things like multiply mi gaos),
You all should play on iRO ymir so I have people to talk to when i'm online My IGN is Gak 2 Details about Ymir: -some bots, but not holy sh** a lot like Valkyrie (and none of those annoying spammers) -only 1 character per account, unless you get VIP pass. Kinda sucks since you can't transfer all your items to a merchant char via storage.

Damn sorry it lags so bad for you, it's definitely because the servers are in north america though.
You'd probably need a paid proxy service to get less lag I assume.

oh man, I used to live RO back in early 2000's. I played on iRO Loki server and even attended the National RO PVP Tournament I remember.

If you're still interested I found this, maybe it'll help? It's a free software that may improve your ping https://gravity.wtfast.com/gravity.aspx

hey I just started and I need some help. I used to play back in the day but never was that good at it. I'm trying to become a ninja, so I need 5 iron ores even though the quest says I need something else. Anyways, you guys all in a TL guild or something? Would be cool if I could find people to play with, I have vent/teamspeak and skype. PM me please, and thank you
|
Guys, double exp event for like a week! Good time to start playing if anyone is interested :D
|
Still looking for more people to join whoever started playing, contact me on Ymir (Blade Fox_I or Gak 2 or ~Bree~ or Kenthros)

I used to play RO for years. I played on the iRO server before the private ones started popping up and the fun I had. It had the perfect mmo feel to it! Meeting random people, making friends, going around the world, improving your skills. There was a lot of challenges and such so I had a lot of fun there. I started playing on Crossworlds RO and I loved that server. Sadly it down but I guess it's just something that happens to everyone. Just means I have moved on from RO to more things
|
Huge skill update happening to RO tonight I believe. Supposedly the biggest update since renewal, so needless to say I'm pretty excited to see the changes. I get paid next Wednesday, then I can become VIP and play on Ymir with everybody. Although I do need to ask, is it fun playing with so few people? I usually see it at ~500. Even with bots, having more people on Valk is nice.
|
I just started playing on Yggasil server, anyone in this server?
|
is there a place for a list of changes in the one you mentioned Fallacy? I miss RO
|
Not sure where a list is for the changes, they were mostly balancing the 3rd classes changing skill formulas and some classes got slight hp increase or decrease, also most monsters/MvPs got buffed.
They also put in a new town which includes a new instance/monsters/quests/equipment etc that only 3rd classes can do.
I play on Valkyrie if anyone wants help/advice or whatever pm me here on TL and I'll do my best.
edit: here's a list for the new equipment - http://ro.doddlercon.com/wiki/index.php?title=New_Armors#Episode_14.1_-_Mora_Update_Equipment

I is so sad, I really wish more people would play this game. This was so awesome back in the day.
I might restart this.
|
If there's any interest I can start a TL guild on Valkyrie (free to play server but you can still play as VIP with all those perks if you like.) All my alts need a guild lol
|
people are welcome to play with me on lumina also :p
|
|
how can i get on that server once it launches? can you provide a small tutorial? Its been a while since i played on RO costum servers.
|
RO sucked two years off my teenage life. I simultaneously hate it for being a soul steal but honestly...probably the most fun experiences I've had in any video game. :D
|

iRO is an official server
off the top of my head what you need to do is: go to warpportal.com and make an account log in to the account and make a ragnarok game account and download the game install/patch the game log in to your ragnarok game account and make a character / choose your server
|
Who's still active on Ymir btw?
|
Does anyone else play this on fRO?
|
I lag on iRO for some reason. Anyone know any active servers?
