Sooo... i`ve managed to get my hands on a dedicated linux server and i`ve set up a cs:go server. Because i've nothing better to do, i will share the server with tl. For any purpose. I will grant rcon rights to anyone who wants to hire the server. And by hire i mean: Use it as long as you want, for free.
Maybe one day there even will be a tl inhouse event again?

Unfortunally, there are a few issues left, caused by my, not existing, linux skills.

I`ll use this post to write down some rules, and maybe some tutorials. Also, i will link this post in the google doc (thanks Kronen) if it's ready.

PM me on tl (ONLY) if you are interested.

P.S: If there is no interested at all, i`m not sure if i keep the server running.

I`ll grant rcon because it's getting weird to set up the server and try to do things with linux at once.
With rcon, you are able to do a lot of things by yourself. So be aware that there will be no support from my side, as long as i haven`t sorted out some minor issues regarding the linux server as well as the cs:go server itself.
The server is located in germany.
I have a lot of ideas how the server could evolve, but for now, the server has only the things (maps, sounds, etc.) installed which come with the valve server installer.

On another topic. HLTV is blowing up with all the recent articles concerning lan hacks ever since snm got caught. This is gonna be gud.

My only real need for a private server would be to have an easy place to practice nades and tactics, which you can already do locally. It's a noble idea to host a server for TL but we're too small of a TL community to even make it worth the effort. Now if Rich could look into getting into CSGO instead of this Heart of storm bullshit game...

Yeah the TL CS community is kinda small, and then considering that we're pretty well split apart in US east, west, and EU, would be hard to pick a specific location for a server and then there's even fewer people that can really use it.

Edit: I might have only read the first part of the post, didnt realize it was already in Germany. Well, if you can run it for free, that sounds nice for the people in EU to hang out?

I had the same thoughts after i set up the server. I won't put too much effort into it (see: rcon, there you go). Valve did a pretty good job regarding their server management.

Maybe someone can use it for whatever reason lol

Definitely does not look legit, he jumps and in the slowed freeze frame the cursor goes up perfectly just to 1-tap the guy in palace. Might as well perma ban the entirety of team Fnatic and have Valve get in contact with some lawyers and sue these guys.

I don't know enough about how CS GO stores replays. So if you as a player move smoothly (but very fast) how often does it store values of where you are aiming?

If that video is legit then it is cheating but how did that video get produced? Is the source material of high enough quality?

Most demos afaik are 64 tick so the quality is not highest by any means, but the play kind of speaks for itself in my eyes. I'm already paranoid enough that it destroys my enjoyment and psyche of the game, time for some SC2 I guess.

I'm mostly kind of surprised how much the admins let the players tinker with their stuff on LAN computers. I thought thet CAL stuff was still the standard approach.

As for that Olofm clip, is there some USP trickery for hitting those shots? I tried reproducing that kind of shots on empty server and I could occassionally hit one shot close to the crosshair mid. Maybe with enough repetition I could actually hit those two shots, but doing that so fluently and effortlessly in an actual live match seems like a monkeys & typewriters thing. For now I can definitely see it as a freak accident with some badass instinctive aiming, but I think it starts looking more fishy if things happen too regularly.
