Changes in rank seem to be delayed quite often. It doesn't seem like it always happens at the end of the game, but sometimes minutes or even hours afterwards.

I can confirm that it can be dalayed. One time I logged on and found out that I jumped 2 ranks in the intervening period. Or perhaps that games where there was a cheater are being invalidated, thus causing this effect.

Don't SC2 ranks not change until your MMR stabilizes within a certain range? Maybe it's the same for CSGO.

Usually my rank changes directly ater a game, so I don't think so. I've had games where I would drop and gain ranks repeatedly all in the same day. If there is a range then it is very thin, like a 1 game buffer, enough to bypass with an outstandingly good or bad performance.

Honestly, I don't know how I keep ranking up. I play with a DMG since I was GN1. But he stopped for a long time and came back to the game because of me, he made a smurf to play with me.
He would often carry me but I also wouldn't always bottomfrag, maybe 1/3 games and now I hardly ever bottonfrag. Now I am MGE rank but it still feels like when I started playing with him. Same type of game and it doesn't feel much different ^^ Only my rank has increased and both his accounts are MGE atm. But he's still better than me aimwise. SO WEIRD. At every rank, it feels like I am still below average in aim.
Ranking system is weird. But honestly, I do win games often, last 8 games, 6 wins apparently.

Are those last 8 games with the smurf or without? If it's with you're just getting boosted, if it's without then you're just simply at that level of play I'd say, congratz!

man csgo has a huge problem with ddos, ddos so much rarer with sc2

There's also only 2 players as weak points in SC2 games, as well as the fact that SC2 games are played on Blizz servers rather than 3rd party servers with fixed IPs running custom configs.

Friend let me burrow an account that is nova 2 so he doesn't have to play against people who are DMGish range when I play my regular account with him. Smurfing is sort of fun but it makes me feel bad when game after game people on the other people say "I'll see you on over watch". I definitely see the hate for smurfs because it ruins the current game for everyone but also it sucks because if I do play my main account with my friends, they go 2-15 a side.
I guess you just have to take it for it is what it is.

I smurfed for a while but I got to LEM in about 20 games so I didn't harass low ranked players for very long. I didn't intentionally place in Silver 1 to slap noobs around for a hundred games...
Now I play the same account, now ranked at DMG, with my buddies who are GN4 to MGE and playing against smurfs is getting really irritating. People who play a whole lot better than me being ranked like GN4 with their semi-decent MGE-DMG teams just wreck my little premade. You don't really have a choice to have an alt account for playing with friends unless you're willing to get destroyed 20 times in a row.

yea so many smurfs in high nova up to dmg range, so irritating. and i think you can bet money on sc2 matches or at least you use to be able to.

high nova and AK range also features some really... inconsistent players.
like me. Some days I have it and some days I don't. I haven't really established what might be the common factor (Its not warming up  )

Really enjoying winning 5 games in a row with 25/35 frags and not getting promoted to eagle, and then having a losing streak against really obvious togglers. Fuck this fucking shitty game god damnit

DMG is a hellhole. Took me 17 consecutive wins to get to LE on one account, and on a fresh one I went 14-1-2 (one loss against SMFCs) for LE. Once you get there it's not hard to stay there, though.
