Nf3 d3 and here black is threatening to go Bc5+ so here 28. Rc1 is probably the best move except here black can just go 28. ...Bxa3 winning a pawn without losing tempo since if 29. Rc7 Kd8 30. Rxh7?? black just win with 30...Bc5+ 31. Kh1 Rb1. (contrast this with 27. Rc1 Bxa3 28. Rc7+ Kd8 29. Rxh7. and i feel that playing Rc1 here immediately is stronger than playing it after Nf3) Other moves after 27. Nf3 d3 i considered: If 28. Be3 Kd6 and black can win the d5 pawn without making any concession (such as giving up the 2 bishops). 28. Rd1 just too passive and black should be more than okay since we have no counter play and if 28. h3 our king can come out but it will be far from black d pass pawn so things might be a bit dangerous. Not saying that lines after 27.Nf3 doesn't work since things are still quite complicated, just that 27.Rc1 looks like its clearly better (in my eyes). + Show Spoiler + Well, I looked at those lines a bit and the first thing I would say is that I think Bc5 is better before d3. I also do not think Rc1 is a move to be played on either this move or move 28, and maybe not at all... giving away the a3 pawn for what, a file that does little to nothing for us? I don't think it justifies just making the rook active especially when it does not really do anything for us besides make the threat of promotion more real. I think it is better to be more passive and see what black wants to do first because he cannot really push the D pawn just yet nor can he take our D pawn. I think after 27. Nf3, 28. h3 for most lines. If the black king wants to get out he either has to force our bishop off the diagonal or go a LONG way around so just because our king is stuck for the moment doesn't mean too much. I think liberal's thought of a rook trade is good, but I think it ought to and will come later. I'm sorry I do not have lines made up for this, but I don't think I'm going to change the vote anyway. I'm just not convinced that Nf3 doesn't play out better, because I think it does.

Deadline's due. I will post my move in two days most likely, but surely not before that. Too busy stuffing my face with food. Peace.

In the best case everyone should be preparing for the Holidays with their family now and I don't want to change that for chess. I will probably only post my move on the 2nd - but I have another 'surprise' to kick off the new year with then. I will send a reminder to everyone, so no need to worry! Thanks for all your enthusiasm you have put into this game this past year and I wish you all a great Christmas and an awesome starting to the New Year. Cheers, -me

R-r-r-round. I really wanted to do Bxa3 just for the kicks, but it's too linear and not many variations, plus not that good which was the smaller problem.

to get our King over to help defend d2 The 28. Rc7+ plan is no good as per Malinor's comment.

So for now Ill go with 28. Ne4 + Show Spoiler + because I dont really see the reason for that knight to be there anymore since even if he get the rook down to the backrow of the king, it not really threatening. Also, there really no reason for the knight to be there beside keeping the pawn from pushing up but even if we move it, it can still prevent that move and is also in a more offensive position. Of course this move is not to be taken seriously because I havent done much variation with this move. So my opinion can change later.

I could be convinced to give a little more - I don't know how busy people are with exams or the start of the new semester.

+ Show Spoiler + we threaten the bishop which gains initiative and it allows us to push our passed pawn

Regarding 28.Ne4 + Show Spoiler + I believe 28... f5 will just make that move useless. I don't see how a relocation via 29. Kf2 or 29.Kc3 would help us at all.
